Team selling, how to split the commission?

I have a teammate that has a deal that absolutely must have a demo on a date that he will be OOO during and this deal wants to move fast. So he reached out to me to pass the deal to me and do a tag team.

I'm curious what yall think is the best move for team selling. I do a demo, then let him do proposal and split ACV/commission 50/50? Or he give it to me completely and I take all of it? Or maybe 80/20? (I don't even know if Hubspot can split ACV)

Thoughts?

I mean honestly.....if it was me, I would run the demo establish next steps and then let the other guy run with it and get full commission.

your doing your teammate a solid.
No need to be involved after the demo.

why try and take his commission?

Couldn't agree more with this approach, any attempt to take commission unless he offers or asks you to handle the rest of the deal will likely cause conflict whereas do the above, he owes you one and you should be able to lean on him in a similar way in future.

I'd just make sure he knows what your favourite drink is if the commission is coin.

He said “let’s split the commish”. Than 50/50 is probably fair.

If he didn’t, and it’s JUST a demo, I’d just do it as a favor.

Although I don’t know why his manager doesn’t do the demo and cover for him.

We are on the same pod and our pod leader manages us as well as running her own deals (she's also pregnant with a 3rd kid) so we are giving her some grace

So the manager is out of the picture? That's too bad.

Unless you are both actually running the deal together, do the demo, and walk away. Hopefully this sets a precedent when he can cover for you if you're OOO, and you both are comfortable that your deals are covered when you're away.

depends if he is already at quota or not and how fat the deal is and how busy you are, I would be stoked with 50-30%

This is probably best just negotiated between the two of you before you agree to take it on. If I was you, I'd argue for at least 50% since you are putting in most of the work it would seem and they kind of need you to do this for him.

If I was him, I'd claim that account ownership should account for at least 60%

Depends on how that cookie crumbles.

If it was me i would do the guy a solid, run the demo and then give it back.

TBH I've got a coworker that I have this kind of agreement with. He's demo'd for me and I for him. No commission sharing or anything, we just have an agreement to help each other out. Granted, we're good friends.
