Technical vs. non technical sale

I’m at a fork in my career and was curious to hear what everyone’s thoughts are on technical vs. non technical B2B roles?

I’m currently in cybersecurity, but have an opportunity to join a friend at an early stage martech company.

Are there pro’s/ cons to being in a technical vs. non technical sales role?

Also, having sold cyber security and martech myself you definitely want to stay in security.

Marketing are idiots. You really want to deal with their BS all day?

In my head it feels like staying in a technical sales role for a few more years opens up more doors (technical companies want to see you have that experience, non technical don’t seem to care as long as you can sell)

I would never want to sell to marketing. I started in that world and it was a nightmare. That being said both are software and both are technical to some extent.

yeah can you explain more by what "technical sales" mean?

I have always been confused on this. Normally it just comes down to having more product and industry understanding.

i would NOT want to be in Martech right now IMO.

marketers are the most jaded buyers and the ones that always have budgets cut and get fired when the economy turns like this.

the budget cuts and downsizing are what I remember most from working in MarTech.

I'd stay in security. I like MarTech, but doesn't seem like a good jump to make.
