Ted Lasso taught me...

He brought up a Walt Whitman quote during season one:

  • "Be curious, not judgemental" - Walt Whitman - Ted Lasso

I know it's sappy and ridiculous, but it changed the way I have approached both work and personal relationships as of late. Instead of going to a place of judgment or snark, I have shifted to a place of curiosity. It's made a few of my less-than-favorite weekly chats better and even got me to a different perspective with a sibling during a tame argument.

Have any of you watched Ted Lasso and came away with something sage from an episode? Any other shows, movies, or quotes that have changed the way you interact with the people in your professional or personal lives?

Yeezy taught me, personally.

My favourite quote has been "Closed mouths don't get fed" for a long time. It's applicable in pretty much any situation and has never steered me wrong. If you want something? Ask. Don't like something? Do something about it. So many people get ahead simply because they took initiative.

LOVE Ted Lasso - wasn't the show I expected it to be

Think its a great reminder that your will and mindset determine success, not just skill and experience

But what if I want to choose snark? J/k.

You have inspired me to watch the series this weekend.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I know it’s odd, but made me want to be better with each episode. The character is infectious

The one quote that changed the way I sell and lead is the Henry Ford quote. “If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses”….this led to my relentless pursuit on sales calls for what I call the why behind the want.

Kindness is a management style.

Ted Lasso is a goat. The ability to just play dumb with people with mal-intent. Mmmhmm my dream.

Yeah I got to the same eureka moment this year by reading Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. I made that mistake far to often with those near me and I'm really striving to not do that, it's hard but it's made life SO MUCH BETTER.

Also, to your question, yes! Ted Lasso is a solid TV show, I'm loving the 2nd season so far! So far Alone has hit home pretty hard, creativity, perseverance, grit, and some luck as knowing what to do with it will win you a million dollars.
