Telling your boss/company you're moving out of state

Whats up FAM!?

As a fellow tech slinging champ, I'm now able to work from wherever (mountains, beach, Mexico, downtown etc). Making that move placed me out of my selling region and into a new timezone and state. How do you bring this up with your boss and HR team? Do I tell them?

Biggest issue would be claiming taxes in the proper state. I've also seen pay issues with HR lowering base pay if moving from an expensive part of the country to a cheaper part. I would definitely tell them sooner rather than later.

Totally, good point! It seems that mentioning it to my boss earlier would be good. It's also a good indicator of the company culture on how they'll decide how to manage WFH measures in the near future as things open up.

yeah some companies won't care, some will. i would honestly start the conversation as a "what if" type situation to gauge what would happen "if" you move and then take it from there.

New job offer expiring tonight, still waiting on a counter offer from my current company. What’s the move?

Tell me what state you're from without telling me the name.
