Texting Prospects?

You get an out of office from someone and they put "for urgent matters, please text me at..."

Is that an invitation to text them for business-related non-urgent matters or is that taking it a step too far?

I feel like cold-texting to a cell you get from ZoomInfo is an automatic no, but these prospects open the door so what's protocol?

Unless you have an active deal cadence going with that prospect, no.

I would say they aren't going to view being sold to as an "urgent matter".

I typically only text a prospect if their outgoing message says that they prefer a text to a voicemail or if anything else suggests they are cool with it.

Agreed.   It's not urgent unless they have told you it's urgent.

Yup! Don't start things with a bad taste in their mouth. So don't text unless they ask for it.

If the deal is on the line or closing is happening then text. If not, hold off.

Unless the contract needs signing today or they lose budget or something like that, this is not "urgent".

Only time I am texting a prospect is after they have granted me permission to do so.

If not im just going to piss them off.

Mid cycle im texting my champions often. Ive never opened the door to an opp thru a cold text, that just seems weird.

I don’t text them if I get an out of office but have found text super beneficial with accounts that I have relationships, clients are on the road most often and won’t have access to email to approve an order but can easily text me back.

Definitely not. If someone is OOO for anything, I will try and respect that as much as possible. Keep that number for future use, but don’t text them while they’re OOO, especially if it’s for an “urgent need”.

Always text if you can, but never cold. . After trying the desk line/office line a few times, then calling the cell. Emails. Leave VMs on both. . Then text. Shoot your shot, wtf do you have to lose?

I only text if I am already in process and we have a solid relationship.

I don't  text for cold or first time I try to reach out of unless the email or vm specifies we can sms them.

Too far.

Cold texting isn't there yet.

Text them if they have given you permission do so.

I'd call their cell before I txt.  If you've built some level of rapport and they've committed to getting back to you but haven't, they're in the wrong for not getting back to you.  Fair game to blow up their cell.

If it’s in their signature go for it.
