Thank you notes after interview?

Is sending a thank you note to potential hiring manager/interview panelists too much?

Is this common practice?

In US, in EMEA?

I have sent a thank you note when I thought that the interview went really well but for me it somehow feels a bit kiss ass because I usually do express my thanks at the end.

Recruiters are a different story :)

I ALWAYS send a thank you note and reaffirm next steps. You are interviewing for a sales role, show you can progress a cycle forward and close.

”Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.

<1-2 lines about something personal you talked about, or thank them for any feedback they gave>.

Looking forward to the <next call, panel, mock pitch, decision>.”

If you're going to do it, this is the way.

I NEVER send a thank you. And prior to the interviewing for Directorships or higher, I had a 100% record for getting the offer.
.
We met. I left a good impression. You won’t forget my name, and you want me to work here, you call me bitch.
.
For the record, Director or higher I’d like to think my record is pretty decent but I have nothing to compare it to so idk.

Since the pandemic, I've started sending thank you videos and have gotten really good feedback from them!

BombBomb is my favorite! They have a Call to Action button that you can add to a view that can link out to a calendar to book a meeting or presentation/white page/resume.

Always send something! I usually do either a quick email or write a note to go along with LinkedIn connect request.

I ask for an email if we run short of time for QnA and the company is an ideal one. I thank followed by asking my questions.

Depending on how much I want the position, or if there are more rounds to come, I try to send one. There were times I did get the job without one, so I don't think it's a dealbreaker.

I always sent thank you notes & LinkedIn requests after interviews. One guy I used to work with would send hand written notes. That was a little over the top IMO but it got him hired & def left an impression.

Now that I'm on the other side of things & help on the hiring team, I've been so surprised at how many people don't send them. So it does make the ones who do stand out a little more

I always did. When I receive one from a candidate after long rounds of interviews, it 100% makes them stand out in my mind.

Always send the thank you, last year + I sent virtual due to our crazy world.  It sets you apart and makes you a person.

I'll send a followup, but it doesn't have to be the boring and traditional followup. Build rapport with the interviewer and send follow up that's super casual based on what you talked about.
