The Side Hustle Shuffle!

Hey y'all what's your side hustle shuffle? Do you think that your position in sales has helped you with your side hustle? if you could give one piece of advice to new young or old entrepreneurs what would it be?!

Here we go! my wife and I have started two small businesses one revolves around agriculture property and the other is a weed spraying business.

I am 110% convinced that my position in sales has helped us achieve this.

One piece of advice I would give is to just do it. All to often to many of us get stuck in the talking about it and planning stage, instead of just doing it. Go for it don't wait because eventually you will see that opportunity pass by and be gone, with you just watching it instead of living it!

Oh you have legit shit. Good for you! Mine is still a little bit of a hobby, but I dog sit locally. All by referral/word of mouth, so I kind of fell into it.

Not gonna lie, these past few years I've made enough money where I dropped my side hustle(s). Blessed enough to make enough money that I rather have free time with the family.

~25 I was consistent with juggling my day job and multiple side hustles. As much as the sales skills helped with my own ventures - those ventures really helped me excel in my day job.

Confidence to have tough conversations & trying different closing methods (that wouldn't make sense in my job at the time) were major benefits that helped me get to where I'm at now.

That’s awesome. That is an excellent point I have noticed that my side hustles have helped me in my day job as well.

I had a side hustle where I was cold calling before I was in sales lol.

But I got into sales because I know its a benefit for having a business.

Side hussles suck. I did them for 12 years. Finally got to a point where I only have to focus on the day job. Thank God. I always thought side hussles were my play money but they always ended up being my gap money. It was brutal.

I run a Personal Training business. Before getting into Software Sales I was an Equinox trainer. Shit sometimes that makes me more money than my actual job haha.

That is way cool. My wife wants to get in to doing that. She has a degree in PE and does not want to teach. She would rather do something in personal training.

It’s relatively easy to get into, incredibly difficult to succeed. Our trainer attrition rate at equinox was 85% within 6 months. People don’t realize it’s a 100% commission based sales role. But incredibly rewarding. Not to mention the clientele I used to train is what got me into the spot I’m in now. If she ever wants tips I’d be happy to help

Sales training, coaching and facilitation. My experience in sales is what built the business, but more than that when I launched it I had to use my skills to get customers for myself without a big company name behind me. I couldn't have done it without my background in sales for sure.

Your advice is the one I thought of honestly, so I'll give you the one I just came up with: you guys launched 2 different projects. Without more details I dare say you might want to focus on the one that's kicking off the fastest so as to not lose momentum. It can be hard as one might need to pause (not abandon, not kill) what they already started and help the other one be successful. That can help you guys get there faster than if you divide and conquer.

Best of lucks man, never stop!

That is a great point without my experience and the skills that I have learned in sales, it would have been so much harder to get customers.

Thanks for the advice! That is what we are doing we are focusing on the weed spraying right now since there is only a few months left here in Wyoming to spray for weeds. Our other one we are taking small steps to make sure that we don't lose traction with it.

I hope all goes great for your business! Go kill it!!
