“This is a sales call, do you wanna hang up now or can we talk for a few minutes?”

Saw someone bring this up on Reddit and I’m curious.

What do y’all savages think about this opening for cold calls?

I don't invite people to hang up on me, period.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this approach because it insinuates the prospect's time is more important than mine. I like to start and continue my sales processes on equal footing with my prospects.

I like your take on this. I personally believe that equal footing in a sales conversation is very important, otherwise it’s just skewed and one of us is wasting our time

I know a few people who use a variation of this, but asking for a ‘few minutes’ might put people off.

you could adapt it to something like “this is a sales call but as you’ve already answered let me tell you why I called and you can let me know if it’s worth taking further”

softer, non comital and will allow you to get your hook/value prop out 9/10 times.

Guru Ghanesh: "Hi Jim, this is Ghanesh from Sandler, this is a cold call. Let me guess you're filled with excitement and anticipation"

I’ve read a few different versions of this, but they all have the same concept of “disarming” the prowler with the opening. I don’t personally care for the “hang up now” part; but I love the disarming opening to a cold call.

I’ve tried similar stuff before. It’s totally hit or miss.

I tend to go with the 'Are you super busy or day have a minute' or 'I haven't interrupted anything have I?'

They normally always say 'Well, haha, I am always busy, none stop work mate, but it's okay go on'.

'Ah well it's a good thing to be busy haha'

Anyway...

I’ve been looking at this tool. Does anyone have reasons why one way or the other?

I’ve heard good things from a couple of my customers, one of whom randomly referred me to a rep from superhuman. Guess what, I was an android guy and they didn’t (probably still don’t) have an android version. Now that I moved to iOS, a couple of these have opened up as an option

Truth time: do you have those days where a legit prospect picks up a call and you hang up when they answer ?
