Tremendous respect for what Elon has accomplished but, let’s be real, the man doesn’t have any comedy chops.
It was hilarious how giddy and excited he was. That's the joke. Man has billions, he shared some joy.
Yeah but most of the “jokes” that involved him were all basically winking “it’s funny because its Elon! Get it?!”
And that’s fine but it’s literally the absolute minimum effort required to try and extract any humour from his performance.

If you're watching SNL for fine well written/acted thespian theatre... I think you're not the right demo.

Yes because gauging comedy chops on a comedy sketch show is the same thing as expecting fine thespian theatre...

I thought his comedy was pretty decent for someone who isn't a comedian. I was laughing my ass off during most bits

I saw one of the sketches first (before I watched his monologue), I was like, omg.. he's terrible - like really awful. And then when I watched his monologue, I found out he has Aspergers (I didn't know that... and it really explains alot). So, honestly, after watching through that lens, I thought it was pretty amazing for him to put himself out there and probably inspired some others to go for things they thought they couldn't do before :-). But he should definitely NOT quit his day job, lol
Cheers and I get what you mean by not quit his day job, but with the kind of money Elon has I don't think he needs to work another day in his life, but I sure hope he does so we can go to mars😂!

Like Elon has 0 EQ. But he's still "cool" and "famous" because he is the memelord. Which is only a thing you can be asynchronously. If he had to be "live" all the time, he wouldn't have nearly the fanbase he's amassed on Twitter.

Their handlers won't let that happen. Elon is papa elon because he doesn't have people managing his image. He is (to us outsiders) genuine and honest, not run through a PR lens.
It's refreshing to see a real CEO with real thoughts and actions. Even if he is wrong sometimes (masks, trapped kids submarine etc).
I look to the dave portneys, the ross pomarantz, the sahil mansuri of the world to be genuine, open with little filter.

Great point Sadnes5. As much as I would love to see them try hosting SNL I respect Elon and (others you mentioned) for seemingly being themselves online and not some typical (Through the lens of PR) CEO.

Agreed. I know it's unorthodox, but was cool to see a thought leader go on SNL. I'd love to see Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Tim Cook, or any other CEO (Ex-CEO) give it a try!
Bezos would be interesting. Apparently, it was pretty controversial within the SNL staff to have Elon host so I'd assume they'd throw a fit for Bezos.

Fairly certain it was in regards to his political, social, & humanitarian views.
In general, I think he has one concern which seems to be making humanity a multi-planetary species which I.M.O is amazing, but who knows maybe he has a secret hidden agenda
