Thoughts on Medicinal Marijuana industry???

So, I’ve already made my mind up. I’m actively trying to get fired from my day job (1) because I can’t stand it & (2) because I’ve never believed in a business idea more than the one I (serendipitously) stumbled across.

That said, though my mind is already made up, I’d like to hear the thoughts and opinions from le cremé de le cremé... the Savages of the War Room.

Any horror stories, tribal knowledge, wisdom / experience any of you fine folks are willing to offer would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the help, fam.

Best,

I think VC is investing into this industry since past few years. What are you trying to do in this industry? A simple e-commerce business or anything more?

I’m actually working with a grow op in a market strictly medicinal.

And if I could share it, I would - and not to come across delusionally over confident - but my concept & brand is super dope. With a ton of interest in a very short period of time.

I feel that. I mentor startups/founders in my free time and also through Founder Institute and Takeoff Institute. Do let me know if you need any help with anything business related and we can take this offline

Thanks so much, Ace.

I’d love to connect and talk more with you about this idea I’m working on.

Please let me know how and when we can do that!

Only comment is it is DAMN hard to get banks to fund marijuana companies and ventures.

Thanks you for your thoughtful insight.

If it were easy everyone would do it though, right?

Also - I do appreciate the word of caution. But the investment capital I’m looking for wouldn’t come from a bank.

But essentially I want to get exclusive rights to certain strains from a grow op - process it, brand it & bring it to market. Without the legal liability that comes with a grow op or store front.

I think there's money to be made but given it's federally regulated in Canada, there's a million hoops to jump through and a limited number of grow/retail licenses are being given so be prepared for a ton of competition. Not for me.

Understood. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback.

I guess I look at it like this - I’ve got tons of red tape and bullshit obstacles I run into and fight on a daily basis for an employer that doesn’t really care about me.

I am at a place where I’m comfortable taking those risks and fighting those fights for myself.

Grass is always greener but medical marijuana is going to have more and more money behind it as the medical benefits to it continue to increase. It’s just a pain in the ass to deal with all the regulation on it and all that noise. Provided you can tolerate the bs it’s way worth it

Thanks for weighing in here. I appreciate your perspective.

Do you personally have some experience breaking into this industry or are you commenting on what you’ve observed / studied?

2 of my best friends opened up a dispensary and 1 of the guys I work with his brother runs one in California. So I don’t personally have experience but seen it first hand and talk to both parties about it quite often

That’s great. I hope it’s all going their way.

I’m currently finding it difficult to force the puzzle pieces I have in front of me into the right place… so to speak.
