Tinder for Sales?

So this dropped (is dropping?) today. I checked it out. Very interesting.

I did a search for myself and found myself (very zen of me) when I typed in a specific search criteria.

Notables for me:

(1) its very public about what I posted in my description when I started my account. I'm sure I agreed to it somewhere, but for me its TMI to share with a random person/company.

(2) What stops a recruiter/company from reaching out to me directly? There's certainly enough info in the Free version to find me on LinkedIn.

(3) If you're hoping Bravado AI will help you find a job, you'll need to retool your profile here. This is something for @Gasty to look into?

I'm sure there's more if I dig deeper. But my primary takeaway is that our info is being used to fuel this new feature and I'm very curious as to how that will work out.

Interesting concept and it roughly aligns with what I figured it'd be. Aside from the whole doxxing of myself issue, there's something else I wonder about.

I'm not too sure how I feel about the whole base/OTE thing. To me, that's information that shouldn't readily available to recruiters/hiring managers. It's something we can share if we want to. What's most important is what we're targeting, but this looks to be reporting on our current.

What about those that got laid off in a bad economy and had to take a suboptimal opportunity because they have family to support? Is this going to keep them there?

Does it make companies less likely to offer a higher salary if they 100% know it's a big boost and think they can get talent for cheaper?

I'm curious about everyone's thoughts on this... @oldcloser @Sunbunny31 @Pachacuti @CuriousFox @Revenue_Rambo @poweredbycaffeine @braintank @TennisandSales @antiASKHOLE @unclespacejam @RandyLahey

I don't tell my friends how much I make. This subject was an arm-wrestle with my wife. She won. So, she knows. I can't think of any reason to broadcast it to the world. It just takes our legs out in negotiating comp. Did I agree to this part somewhere? I looked. Didn't see that.

Ballparks to friends are okay if you want to. Spouses? I think that’s fair as it affects planning and life

Bravado and future employers?! Fuck that noise

As an employee this blows. As a recruiter or hiring manager this absolutely helps me from a negotiation and budgeting standpoint.

Sorry I forgot you, my friend! I don’t disagree, but I don’t see any benefit to those being asked for the information. It’s also not really fair to candidates.

Totally agree no benefit for us and it isn’t fair to candidates because now you can use this and hire someone with the same experience for possible lower pay based on their previous pay which fucking blows.

but this tool isn’t for us is it? In the end though if I post my job information and I figure out that it will be used against me regarding pay negotiations then i simply won’t use their product anymore. They need both recruiters and employees hoping to get recruited for this to work, otherwise it falls on its face.

It’s not for us, in the end, but we’re also the fuel that feeds the engine. Disincentivize us at your peril. It all falls apart without the candidates.

I do not support this aspect of it. Rest is pretty cool for the most part, even if most recent quota doesn’t tell the whole story

I'm someone who was laid off and took a suboptimal job. My comp went from $75k base/$150k OTE to $50k base/$75k OTE. While part of me was worried that this could pigeon hole me into a lower pay band, a) I'm now unemployed and even a low pay band is better than driving Uber to make ends meet and b) anyone who does even a few minutes of investigation will be able to tell that I took a fairly large pay cut from 2022 to 2023. Putting it in a single repository might make it marginally more accessible, but only so.

I feel you, and was actually thinking about you when I posted.

This platform has you indicate your current Base/OTE and allows employers to search accordingly. How would you feel about the $50K/$75 being the parameters under which you were found and the sole way your compensation is represented?

As much as we cough up personal truths in here, it would be a helluva trick to use textual analytics to assign personality attributes to the profile. Different level solution entirely.

The "data points" is referencing our portfolios and deal records, I guarantee it.

I thought the “fake jobs” were the lure so is this the chum? I never clicked because of the type of roles listed and finally when I do, which I’m glad to have joined, this starts. It’s all my fault so just add it to the list of bullshit that I get and let’s get on with it and maybe this will result in job offers flowing like the beer at a tailgate party!

I just hope my profile and info is not shared. I am cool with doing this part anonymously but the second I find my actual info shared- I am outta here.
It asks for company email to use the AI, and there is no way in hell I am linking up my company domain and email to get into this. NO WAY. Who knows what it would do with the info from using my company gmail to get a log in. Wondering if Pachacuti used company email to look yourself up or how went about that? I’m skeptical and this new AI got me curious how much of my info is shared and what is shared??
