Been using linkedin and Y combinator in a new tech city to find both SDR ands BDR. (Had previous experinece in BDR until the tech layoffs. Not much luch out here and have been applying for months. Any tips on applying or have any suggestions on landing another role.

Update: Everyone commenting has been very helpful, started getting sales jobs outside of tech market (also in a new tech market so started reapplying)

Definitely this. Also take a look at the myriad posts in the War Room about job search.

These days, you often have to go above and beyond. Especially if you're hitting a wall.

Have you been using LinkedIn to connect with recruitment companies both big and small? Small ones that specialise in SDR/BDR roles tend to be the best - the big recruitment companies don't need the money so won't pay as much attention (in my opinion anyway). Have a search and add the recruiters with a note asking if there are any roles going etc - if there are roles going, message them asking if you could get ahead of the game and arrange a conversation.

Also, @Gasty is probably able to help or link you to some posts etc for help and or websites for roles to find them!

Definitely agree with @braintank post your cv here cause at the barest minimum you should be getting interviews.

Hey!!
Welcome to the War Room, great first post.

This is Gasty - WR Community Manager. Just wanted to highlight a few points before I talk about the post.

WR is a Sales Community Platform with some of the best Sales people and their advice is pure gold. This is an anonymous platform and I see that you’ve got it covered. Kudos for that.

We consistently post Leaderboard’s, Fun Friday’s, who’s hiring and more.

This isn’t LinkedIn, you can go as detailed as you want. Just focus on providing value.

You can also use the search bar, you’ll get all the posts related to this, that we’ve had a discussion on.

Lastly, have you checked out the commission store yet? If not, I highly recommend. Earning those points is also super easy. Upvotes get you points. We got some amazing goodies that you can bag. Just be more active, post more, engage more.

Now to talk about your post;

Have you tried referrals? We do post Who’s hiring weekly, maybe you can check out some of our older posts. You’ll get some options there. Moreover, as I always suggest: be more active on LinkedIn, it’s much more than clicking “apply now”. Talk to hiring managers, network more, try posting about your struggle - It may attract recruiters or people who can help you out.!!

Best of luck!!

Keep doing what you're doing and as others have said get a resume review to make sure ATS isnt gatekeeping you.
Additionally look at remote roles there may be more competition but it also opens the market for you much wider.

rejection, the unfortunate all too familiar feeling in sales and job searching sometimes. keep at it because the moment you creep into giving up it's over. you will find something.

Brutal market currently and election year in the USA so it’s gonna be a struggle. Patience and try searching “outside the box”. What industries are doing well. Relate your strengths to their industry you may be surprised

What's your process @kitkat3 ? Happy to challenge you on this—I’ve been hiring SDRs for the past 3 years. Honestly, most candidates aren’t putting in much effort, so the bar is pretty low right now.

Sharing some examples would be helpful for others. I think having a manager who hires discuss what they see woul be super beneficial. Maybe make your own post about it? Just a thought.
