Tis the Season - Be Thankful

Hey Savages,

I have been thinking a lot about what this last year has been able to provide for my family and myself. A year ago at my last job, I was fearful of what was going to happen over the next few months. Sales cycles were long and deals took a while to be funded and paid out. If I didn't have a good July/August, Xmas would be terrible.

Fast forward to January of this year, I started a new job in SaaS and was relieved to find the sales cycles and payouts to be sooo much shorter. I am thankful for this community as I pulled a lot of value and tips away on how to jump from a BDR to an AE at a new company which has, best I can tell, almost doubled my income in one year.

I just want to say that I am thankful for ya'll.

What are you thankful for?

We appreciate you @antiASKHOLE!

I'm thankful for being able to marry my amazing wife, buy our first house, and the job I started earlier this year. (even though our thanksgiving was in October)

And you Savages are okay too...

@sketchysalesAhh, such lovely topography.

I just moved from Toronto to about an hour away from midtown/Toronto proper. 45ish minutes from 'Toronto'

haha dont we know it. I travel a lot for work, get a nice balance of big city on the road and quiet home life on the weekends, i like it. Although it is stupidly cold now.

@sketchysalesit was so damn warm here the last few weeks. It was like 17 on Friday. And then snow yesterday, a bit on the grass but none on the ground. Such a sudden shift.

I definitely appreciate the quiet home life - that's a reason I moved out of Toronto (and also being able to afford a house, and a yard)

I was down in the states last week and it was a good 20 degrees in Chicago, so good.

And yes, not only the quiet space but the yard is great. Land is so cheap where i am, makes it worth living with the weather i find.

lets gooo!!!! love it! This year has also been one of the most successful ones ever.

we are debt free, paid cash for a car, put money away for the future and are about to book a house on the beach for a full month.

I think it is important to stop and reflect on all we've learned and accomplished in the past year.

Although I'm sitting at home with 2 sick kids, a sick wife and am ill myself, I know this will pass and am thankful that I have these amazing people in my life, have the health network to take care of us all, have our own house to recover in and have a job that understands somethings are more important than being in the office.

Man, I miss being able to go to Timmy's, one of the few things I miss about Michigan. I was PISSED last year when I went up and they stopped serving hot apple cider for some reason though... I'll check in a few weeks when I go back up for Thanksgiving to see family.

Tim's has gone downhill hard in the past few years, I don't know what the hell they are thinking but it is definitely not about customer service or quality.

I will go out of my way to avoid them now, but this is horrible. I bet the grocery store coffee is just as bad.

That is tough to hear. I moved 5 years ago from Michigan to Florida and it wasn't "the best" at that time either, but it was still solid.

It really went downhill when they got bought out by RBI in 2014.

I finally gave up when I found every location just massacred my bagels. Its really just insulting to their customers the crap they serve now.

Yea, that basically lines up with my giving up. The final straw was ordering chicken noodle soup, paying FAR too much for it, and getting literally *2* tiny pieces of chicken in it.

What a great post.

I'm so thankful to have the job I do, working with the people with whom I work - sometimes you have to have it bad to know how good it is when you do get something good.

I have a great family and honestly, don't want to jinx things by saying any more. :)

Thankful to now be in a closing role and plan to make some serious $ next year by either killing it or jumping ship.

Either way, I'm grateful to be able to work from my pyjamas and eventually live, laugh love like Julia Robert's.

Highly important to stop and reflect and being grateful for what we have. What am I thankful for this year? Even though I had a lot of ups and downs, got fired, laid off and now on my way to be one of the leaders at my new company, I'm simply grateful for it all that has happened and mainly my family that has been resilient with me and pushed me forward as well.

Thankful that, as this was a tough year for our product (avg. quota attainment for Sr. AEโ€™s is at 56% to date) my wife and I were able to be frugal and still have a nice year. Thankful for still having a job and working with mostly honest, generous AEโ€™s. Thankful my college age kids are still sticking out college through Covid, and thankful to live in a beautiful part of the world. In the end, itโ€™s family, family, family.
