Told after interview not the right time?

Had a couple interviews with a company that went awesome. Prob my best interview to date. Didn’t hear back and finally got a hold of hiring person and they told me they just didn’t feel like it was the best time. Mentioned Q3 being a better time to pursue. What? Never have I ever been told this. I’m lost. Throw some of your thoughts my way.

It’s possible that something happened in the budget or unforeseen circumstance that is keeping them from hiring right now.

I’ve had this happen before where we’ve got the green light from finance then something happens (a bad month, investors, other reason) and I’m told to pause on the hire.

I wouldn’t take it personal. Just like when you lose a deal.

Exactly this, especially since they mentioned picking things up again in Q3. If they straight up didn't like you, they wouldn't have said that (unless they're totally cruel.)
