Tools for the trade

With the holiday season upon us, I can't help but have the holiday itch for spending and figuring out what kind of upgrades I can't make for my current at home set up.

Thinking about getting an iPad for note taking, industry studying, and market research. Anyone have any experience using an Ipad? Both positive and negitive?

What other set up pieces that you find necessary and nice for your productivity? Standing desk, two monitors, ect.

I prefer 2 monitors. That makes the job so easy not just for doing your research but also demo. If I add more, I will waste my time doing non productive stuffs.

I use 3 screens. Sometimes an advantage. But 2 is the bare minimum.

I just scooped up a Amazon Echo Show for the specific purpose of having my calendar viewable on my desk. I HATE having to toggle back snd forth between email and calendar in my outlook

Two monitors and good lighting are all I really "need" as it turns out. I use my iPad as a second screen while traveling, and I have put my mouse and aux keyboard in the drawer with the current setup I have monitor raised directly behind my laptop).

If you use a Mac for work and can share docs seamlessly between your ipad and computer, then it could be helpful. Especially if you’re someone who actually likes to “write” notes instead of type them. However, if you use a PC, then it will most likely be more of a hassle to keep the two separate systems organized.

Definitely. The org I work with uses Mac’s which is what has sparked the thought.
I’ve just gotten tired of all the random notes in my notebook, hoping the iPad will allow things to be more durable / move around more

Two monitors for sure.

I'd love to get away from pen and paper but I haven't found a an app for my iPad that handles my chicken scratch.

Definitely, some gadget to fidget with whilst on the phone. Just my preference, however, makes the call more relaxed.

2 monitors is key and I love a good headset.  I also think anything that sets you up physically to be in a good position is important.

Yes, I have used an iPad before.

I'd go for 2 monitors before getting a dedicated ipad for now taking and research. Getting a separate machine for those activities seems like overkill.

My unsung productivity hack is an ergonomic keyboard and mouse.

I use an electric standing desk, Secret Lab ergo chair, and 4 monitors + my laptop and ipad.  The multiple screens allow for dedicated notes, demos, slack, and pivoting during calls. Ipad is more for personal/side hustles and youtube/spotify etc during the day.  Don't want that playing on my laptop for corp productivity reasons.  It looks like I'm a options trader but I freaking love it.
