TRANSPORATION / LOGISTICS SALES

Hello Everyone,

As we are all new to this platform, wanted to connect and get some feedback with regards to industry specific sales ideas. We are all aware that selling cars is nothing similar to selling medical supplies. However, when it comes to transportation I feel that it is a sector that has its hands in every industry. That being said when it comes moving freight from POINT A to POINT B the process is in an essence the same. How do you all think is a best way to sell a "service" and potentially land that new customer? Is it through email, cold calling, "old-fashioned" method of just stopping by the office? The "Old Fashioned" method is my preference but maybe there are some other freight sales guys and ladys who want to share there feedback.

I just signed a frieght app to use my platform they are YC backed and ex Uber emplyees. Going to be a big industry.

I think their sales team is more on onboarding companies like Pepsico, Mondelez while im sure they have another team that is targeted to get "riders"

I have been selling transportation and logistics for almost 10 years. I love this industry especially now as it moves into digitization and automation. With that being said, buyers in this industry range from old school, who would appreciate the "old fashioned" way, versus someone who wants to see value right away. Feel like I am selling technology, visibility, and efficiency instead of selling a service from Point A to Point B.

I would completely agree and as technology becomes more applicable in our industry (ELD's / CUSTOMER PORTALS / GPS LOCATIONS) that "visibility" is passed along through either API integrations or Cloud-based platforms.ย ย
