Marriott Bonvoy my go to hotel program.

Once you status up to Platinum other hotel chains will status match about once a year.

Stick with one until you're valuable to others, then status match.

Same with Airlines/Car rentals.

Nice stuff, I've had Marriott to some capacity for a while, just like the size and options they have when it comes time to use the points.

Status matching is something I'll have to look into more. My role has shifted from occasional travel (never really hit any serious status) to something where that should be more likely. Thanks for the tip!

Pick an airline that HUBs near you with a lounge too... With a decent network and lounge access, makes life amazing.

I'm in Chicago so United it is! I'm not all that picky about different airlines, but with more traveling I probably will start getting picky.

Amex Platinum, bonvoy, Hilton honors, and *unfortunatly* United. Amex gold/platinum and Chase sapphire cards are probably your best best. Really depends on how much you are going to be spending on travel. Incorporate several different point streams into your bookings. i.e.: Use rocketmiles to book hotels to earn more airline miles, book whatever hotel chain you chose through hotels.com (you get free nights and points). Remember most travel cards only give you points on flights when booking directly through the airline. I could talk about this topic all day. Business travel alone has funded most of my travel over the last 6/7 years.

Adding to the Chase Sapphire cards. They are worth it for the primary rental insurance alone.

Nice stuff, thank you for the info. I've got a few of those things on the list already set up.

I'll have to look into rocketmiles as well to make sure I've got all possible streams going.

Hoping to be doing the same regarding using points on my personal travel after getting this sorted!

Marriott for sure, Chase Private reserve, great perks not tied to a specific airline

Thanks for the intel. I've had Marriot, but I'll check out moving up to Chase Reserve once things start ramping up.
