Trying to get loose with video, but how?

I am usually very shy, and the times I make videos it takes forever to get something done that looks somewhat decent. So I am working on that but I still have that anxiety throughout the whole thing and it shows. How can I start working on that to make my approach more confident?

Practice, and beer.

In all seriousness I used to have major stage fright when I was younger, whether virtually or in person. I highly recommend taking some public speaking classes! They help a ton. Then just practice practice practice.

Beer is a serious suggestion, don't undersell your advice.

Hahaha Beer, Never thought of taking classes, i'll have to look into it. I don't think the options online do justice. I've tried a couple of youtube vids.

Practice + the beauty of video is it's ok to slip up or misspeak, people would rather chat with a human than a robot.

Basically worry about what's being said not so much on the how?

Speak like you normally would i.e not full formal business email

Also if you say the wrong word just say 'my bad I meant x' - nothing wrong in being human. Obviously if it happens 3 times in a 60 second vid might be worth a redo.

First ones will be a little awkward but that's part of the process.

Try to look into the camera, way more compelling than if you're looking off to the side etc.

Thank you so much @InQ5WeTrust I really appreciate all the good advice, I've got to set times to strictly work on it.

Practice will make it easier but don’t worry about being perfect. A bit of vulnerability often resonates with prospects (as it’s a pattern interrupt compared to their perception of “salesmen”) Just make sure your ‘why you, why now’ is on point for every video.

Thank you so much, most people are stating that practice is the must and everything else will follow. So I gotta practice!

I’m not a fan of video myself yet. Do you send them by mail or LinkedIn or both? I tried doing it using LinkedIn, but it was not really a succes.

I'm not a fan of it but all the big players in sales are saying that videos are the difference maker. So I want to set myself up for success and do it because if it helps others, it can help me too. You know what I mean?

If you have video preview, I'd turn it off. Look at the camera and imagine you're talking to them in person. Even if you slip up or have a hair out of place, you'll come across much more natural.

Uff! Good point A lot of the times I re-record due to me not looking at the camera.
