Trying to prove myself for manager in Q1

Looking for advice

My manager just put in his two weeks and I’m looking to finish Q4 strong and then go for his role in Q1. I’ve been in a Team Lead role for a few quarters now but what else should I be doing to make it a no brained for the management team to move me into management?

I had a mantra that my father (also sales) always said, "Ask, and you shall receive." your management doesn't know, and if they have someone else asking, they might get the nod first.

Let them know you want the role. Have your manager put in a good word for you if they are leaving on good terms.

Closed mouths don’t get fed. Ask for the position.

Agree 1st step is to let them know your interest as they won't get a wild dream about it.

If you don’t ask, you don’t give them the opportunity to say yes. Let them know you’re interested, and ask what they would like to see from you to show you’re ready.

@GlenRosswho are you currently reporting to? Make it clear to them thats what you want, ask what you need to do in order to get the role, and put them on a timeline with check-ins about it. Basically work it like you are closing a deal.

If I were you I would also ask what slack needs to be picked up by your manager leaving, and then be proactive and just get it done. Point out to your interim-boss that you took the initiative to do this. Keep doing it.

Easy to nail the job when you are already doing it!

You're on the right track! End Q4 strong and tell them you want it and put together an argument for it with talking points. Sell 'em on it!

I would also start seeking mentorship from other leaders in the company, show them you're already putting in the work to be ready if given the opportunity

Just ask! I was in a similar position earlier this year. I asked my execs how they planned to fill the role and expressed interest. A couple months later I got the promotion

I'll have to pick your brain. I've over achieved on quota and only one of other bdr of 7 has hit their numbers. I'm asking for 10% of my base which is 60k + 100k OTE. Is 10% too low?

What major actions would you take on month ends and quarter ends to hit your quota and also increasing the logos of yours from your pipeline?
