TSA pre versus clear

Hey - I currently have TSA pre - am I missing anything by not having clear? Anyone have both?

With travel picking back up I’m looking to be as efficient as possible.

Thanks!

I think Amex usually runs offers on your card for Clear. I see them occasionally on mine.

yep, the amex plat will pay for Clear for you and a +1 - if you sign up through united i believe it's even cheaper.

I have both and will never go back. Pre now has lines that are usually longer than the normal lines so having clear and cutting everything is the way to go.

Worth noting that I HATE standing in lines so id paid way to much for clear. If I could only choose one id probably choose clear but I just wish it was at all airports.

Making a strong case for both. Thanks for the thoughtful reply!

I just have TSA Pre but my home airport is on the smaller side so I never really have to worry about lines more than 5-10min.  If I was in Atlanta or some other giant airport known for 30-60min lines, I might consider Clear.

As an aside - I think its robbery that we have to pay for what was once free. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm Canadian so I have NEXUS, and it's a lifesaver. Not sure how it stacks up to what you're talking about, but I'd imagine it aligns decently with at least one option.

Clear is way better, almost never has a line. Worth it if you travel frequently and want to gain some time on the backend (ie. not arriving hours before the flight)

Just do Global Entry if you're going to do TSA Pre.

TSA pre check as I’ve seen a lot of airports recently not have clear or their machines aren’t working
