Turn the ship 2 degrees

So I was listening to the the WTF podcast with Mark Maron, the Obama episode to be more specific, and all politics aside and my own opinion on the guy as well, there was some real gold in it.

The best quote I got from it was the metaphor of change in a society just turning 2 degrees in the ocean, because the small changes that are made would have us in a much different place than we were 10 years ago.

Why am I mentioning this here, well we can apply this to our sales and professional lives. There's things we all want to change, and most of the times we can't change them immediately. So, we have to go about it 2 degrees at a time, and a year or 2 years from you can guarantee you will be in a much different place than you were today. And that goes for any business really.

What do y'all think?

I think a mindset like this is great. Generally valuing small, compounding improvements over drastic changes sets you up for sticking success. This is for across your whole life, in my experience. Want to lose weight, small changes. Better in sales, small changes. Win an argument with your significant other, well, no advice there.ย

I agree, itโ€™s hard to make a massive change at once, but you can get to that change over time. Like going from smoking 1 box of cigars to quitting, itโ€™s easier to smoke less and less until you eventually quit that all at once.ย
