Uber redefining roles and dropping salaries by 50%

Hey All,

Have you noticed any other companies doing this? The account executive role at Uber use to be around 80k base and as of the recent desperation of the market, I noticed they changed the name of the role from account executive to account representative and dropped the salary to around 49k....

IMO this is taking advantage of people desperate for work, but are we surprised Uber did this?

So now they have to represent an account instead of executing it?

Are they the same role or just โ€œdressing upโ€ the sdr roles?

Are the cutting also current account executives in half? If so I assume all will leave and it will just back fire

As long as itโ€™s hiring new people who can either take the job or decide to look elsewhere, and not shaving the base of existing staff, itโ€™s their prerogative. I havenโ€™t seen a comparison between the two job descriptions to know if they are asking for the same job to earn less, or if what they are hiring for is actually junior.

Iโ€™m not sure if it is the same role but all companies especially publicly traded are looking to boost the bottom line and take advantage. Itโ€™s the way of the world.

i dont think this is taking advantage of ppl needing work, but it could be a way to keep costs where they can afford it to hopefully not lay ppl off?

Theyโ€™re still not turning a profit for christs sake, can we let a company turn $1 in profit before we start staking their hearts for taking advantage of employees and price gouging?

What is the commission structure? How does it differ than the current AES? Are they targeting different customers? Something tells me itโ€™s more of an SDR hybrid with some AM in there.
