UK Sales exec looking to widen the net of companies (is it possible to search US companies?)

hello folks, firstly thank you so much for all your contributions and help you have given me on my quest to get into B2B saas sales... I have not landed a job yet, I have however sent out my updated CV to a few more specific companies that I am interested in and followed advice to reach out, message, LI, email, send connection invites... nothing back yet.

I am writing to ask if you think it may be worthwhile or possible to widen the net by looking at US companies too? although I am a Brit, thinking this may be doable .. anyway thoughts hugely appreciated in advance and any links to websites that you think might be helpful would be awesome.
thanking you! 🥸

hmmm are you thinking about US companies that have locations in the US? or being a remote employee for a US based company?

I would say that your chances are slim to find a company that has an all US based team....and then one UK team member.

Hey! Yeah that makes sense… perhaps US companies that have moved into the UK in this case, but in my recent experience in hunting for jobs, it seems most of the big big companies NEED sold experience in the candidates they are looking for.. still open to suggestions haha

yeah experience is the hardest thing. every company wants it.

2 ways to navigate it,

1. look for more junior roles (in Saas that would be a BDR/SDR) and make sure there is a path to become an Account Executive. This way you can leverage the fact that you have solid sales skills to do this role and then prove your self to be an AE.

2. get creative on how you explain your experience. kind of what I was trying to do with your resume

Well, I cold call 70-100 people a day at the moment to try and sell them life insurance, maybe 3-5 of those book an appointment with me, then maybe 2-3 attend the appointment, then maybe 1 of those appointments converts to a deal 🤯
Is it worse than that? 😂

hahaha you and I come from the same place. no it is not worse than that shit for sure!!!

My first gig out of school was financial services. sold life insurance ONLY for the first few months before I got my investment license and that shit suuuuuucked.

I honestly don’t know how I have lasted this long… it’s like 8 or 9 years now, in the hey day I was earning around £100k a year, but the hey day has long gone now and I want to make more like £150-200k a year ideally 😶
Also, all the best sales people sold life life insurance IMHO 😂😂😂

You could look at US companies that also operate EMEA markets. You could establish a connection with the EMEA Sales teams being in the UK.

If you search for SDR/BDR roles in UK on LinkedIn you'll find a ton.

There are tons of companies with US offices and London offices. You have to apply more. You’re not really going to understand how a company might work unless you get an interview. Job postings can be so generic but once you actually speak to someone on the inside, your perspective can totally change. The more times you cast the line, the better your chance is of landing something. Also, check out Otta 👍

I'm working in Industrial robotic solution providing company. As in India idk how to sell robotic solution(B2B) as I do not have contacts any advice? P.S: - LinkedIn is not useful tool for B2B sales in India because most of people use it as Facebook or for job hunting 🙁
