Unicorn Hunting

Everyone loves a unicorn but tech startups are getting valued at $1B plus left and right these days so that got me thinking. What do you all consider a unicorn?

Is it just hitting $1B in valuation? HItting it pre IPO? Hitting it before series c? Wondering what the group thinks there.

On an unrelated note this has nothing to do with my company maybe hitting $1B pre series C.

A 1B valuation is not all that common, it seems that way since theres a lot of VC money out there right now but there's new markets that are being broken into so that factors in. Of course everyone wants to be a unicorn but in total transparency for each one you see there's 100s that have failed and have not made it there.

Failure rate will always be high. there's more failures than winners unfortunately and it is not easy to pick. just have to hope your gut steers you in the right direction.
