100% accurate. Totally agree. Plus if you do end up leaving for whatever reason - you don't get paid out. AE's take the least amount of formal time off (proven fact), so Unlimited PTO is a way for the company to not have to pay you a lump sum when you decide to peace out.ย

My company has unlimited but somehow it makes it harder to take time off.. I took a total of 6 days off last year (with unlimited pto) vs the 12-16 I took when I was at a company that had a cap.. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

I worked for a company that has โ€œunlimited ptoโ€ and then banned all sales reps from taking any pto for almost two quarters because revenue was down. you wouldnโ€™t believe it though, revenueโ€™s numbers got worse. Who would have thought that could possibly be the outcome?

I prefer 30 days. I have "unlimited" but with employment laws, there must be a minimum number PTOs because if I don't take it by EOY then the company would have to payout the unused days.

Unlimited PTO, treat your people like adults. Encourage them to take the time off if they need it, but make sure they find coverage during that time so they can feel comfortable with disconnecting.ย

We have until the end of the calendar year to use vacation days. They do not roll over. "You don't use it you lose it" mentality.ย

Unlimited PTO is BS, because it means you have ask for permission for every single day of PTO and people end up taking less. Additionally, since the company doesn't give you a set number of days you don't save any days and the company doesn't have to pay out saved days if you leave.

Unlimited is a novelty. Nobody has unlimited money for that. Most companies offer it so they don't have to pay out PTO if you get fired.
