"Unlimited" PTO or 15-20ish PTO Days

โUnlimitedโ always equals limited. Unlimited is disguised as a perk but is actually a cost savings for a company. Essentially, without any days to payout when an employee leaves, a company is able to save on that salary cost.ย
One of the outcomes of unlimited PTO is employees end up taking less time off vs, those that have a set number of days.ย
I call bullshit on "Unlimited PTO" and I'm not a fan of companies who try to frame it that way. The strings attached typically make the whole thing unappealing.
100% accurate. Totally agree. Plus if you do end up leaving for whatever reason - you don't get paid out. AE's take the least amount of formal time off (proven fact), so Unlimited PTO is a way for the company to not have to pay you a lump sum when you decide to peace out.ย
Somehow unlimited is always an excuse to blame work ethic if someone has a rough patch
โUnlimitedโ is a lie and you canโt get paid out on it when you leave. Trust me youโll actually take more PTO with a company that has it spelled out
My company has unlimited but somehow it makes it harder to take time off.. I took a total of 6 days off last year (with unlimited pto) vs the 12-16 I took when I was at a company that had a cap.. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

True PTO is no longer a thing. You are always engaged with your sales career or you lose out on salesย
15-20 by far. Unlimited only sounds sexy, but really isn't for all the reasons already stated here.
"Unlimited" PTO = ~Flexible~ PTO. In my experience, I end up taking LESS time off when I have "unlimited"ย

I worked for a company that has โunlimited ptoโ and then banned all sales reps from taking any pto for almost two quarters because revenue was down. you wouldnโt believe it though, revenueโs numbers got worse. Who would have thought that could possibly be the outcome?
I prefer 30 days. I have "unlimited" but with employment laws, there must be a minimum number PTOs because if I don't take it by EOY then the company would have to payout the unused days.
Unlimited PTO, treat your people like adults. Encourage them to take the time off if they need it, but make sure they find coverage during that time so they can feel comfortable with disconnecting.ย

Unlimited PTO is BS, because it means you have ask for permission for every single day of PTO and people end up taking less. Additionally, since the company doesn't give you a set number of days you don't save any days and the company doesn't have to pay out saved days if you leave.
Unlimited is a novelty. Nobody has unlimited money for that. Most companies offer it so they don't have to pay out PTO if you get fired.

Always take the written amount of PTO days. Because the company is forced to pay you out for the days you did not use if you leave the companyย
