Update: how do I survive

Update for everyone: well, I just got placed on an activity monitoring plan because my July performance and QTD has sucked :). Seriously debating saying screw this and testing the waters to see what’s out there

You need to be interviewing now. This is the set-up for a PIP or being fired.

Working my ass off to find my next move ASAP, it is the setup for a PIP and then if that doesn’t workout then…🫠

If you are on a plan, you should be "testing the waters" now. No question about it.

I'm sorry this has happened. What others have said - test the waters beginning now, while doing your best on the plan you're on. Coming here to provide support more than anything.

Constantly test the waters.

You definitely gotta put yourself out there.

Be prepared. You might not be PIP'd and bounced out, but even if you're not, you might find something that you like more and that pays better.

Any tips on how to discreetly do that? I’m currently applying to everywhere on LI imaginable for something outside of SDR/AE work

How big is your company? And are they actively hiring with consistent external recruiters?

You can always flip on ‘open to opportunities’ on your LI, it’s only visible to recruiters and hidden to those employed by your current company.

Reach out to people in your network at companies you like and say you’re feeling out a change, talk to external recruiters you’ve engaged with before.

Outing you is in no one’s best interest

Startup org, going through growth mode, hiring like crazy but setting ridiculous goals and creating internal unease amongst people in lower level IC roles. I’m gonna use your tips for sure, thanks pal !

Time to sharpen the resume and get it out there NOW. Best time to find a new job is when you already have one.

ugh sorry to hear this.

I would try to give your best effort towards the PIP and also be looking for the next gig.

I had the same insane experience with a start up recently. Unrealistic sales goals.

Majority of my colleagues think and feel the same, it’s just no one is going to challenge leadership. How did you approach it?

I stepped down. Found employment elsewhere. I find companies that set stupid goals don't know what it takes to build a sustainable business. I have seen many start up companies fail because they either run out of cash, or they are just really bad at territory management.

It pains me to be in this spot, I love the organisation I work for, but new leadership came on to help growth and these are the results of what they’re attempting to do

I have always felt more safe working for corporations than start up companies. I made the mistake of stepping down from a comfortable position for a position at a marketing start up that turned out to be a horrible direct sales company. Worst mistake of my career. My advice be very careful with the offers.

I’m currently torn in between, I need stability at this point in my life, I miss working for larger corporations even at the expense of sometimes making less than a startup. I’m also debating getting out of sales cycles completely because like you did, I took a step back to join and basically started all over from step 1 where prior I was more post sales side and customer experience focused
