Users of Copper CRM. Why do you like it or why do you hate it?

I know, I know fuckin SaaSam starting a CRM thread.

Well, I checked the search bar and nothing specificly addresses Copper.

I've got a buddy interviewing with them and he asked me if it's a decent product but I have no idea so I turn to y'all.

I did see through my search bar navigation that several folks either have used it or are currently so.. what do y'all think? Something you would like to sell or just another peice of trash to add to the increasingly large pile of garbage CRMs?

*edit typo. Noticed this rookie error (yiu instead of you) whilst on the throne and unfortunately can't edit on my phone so had to cut the time short.

I've never heard of Copper. I'd also not want to sell against SFDC. I sold a CRM wayyyyy back in the day and it sucked.

What sucked about it? Was the product not up to much? Do you think SFDC is the 800 pound gorilla? I'm curious if folks with your experience selling CRMs see it at all possible to truly compete against SFDC if they can offer a superior product or if it would basically be like starting your own version of Facebook doomed to fail.

It sucked for MANY reasons, but I don't want to sell against SFDC because I'm an avid user of it. I am biased.

That's fair. Admittedly I would probably hate it less if I took some time to immerse myself in it to fully understand and use it properly.

I honestly hadn't heard of copper before this post. I did some digging and reviews about the tool itself look good:  https://www.g2.com/products/copper/reviews

Also, it seems most people that work/worked there were happy about it, according to Glassdoor:  https://www.glassdoor.com.ar/Reviews/Copper-Reviews-E1024075.htm

Hope there's someone in here than can give proper testimony!

Thank you. Yeah I've checked most of the review sites but I've found that the "reviews" given in the WR are both entertaining and insightful since we all seem to love to shit on something we don't like without holding back so praise here seems more legitimate.

Yep, absolutely. I'd rather hear from people using it here than anywhere else, and I'm learning. I had never heard about these guys before!

Never heard of them, which is a bad sign. Why would you ever want to sell against Salesforce?

From my research it seems like a solid tool. I personally don't care for salesforce but they are the Goliath of the CRM world so I get what you mean, that being said the market is full of people that don't like them for the same reason.

I'm just really curious about end user opinions. The company itself seems pretty solid, just closed 100M in series C. My buddy said he is interested because of the potential equity they are offering but wants to get a feel for end user opinion rather than employee or customer opinion.

About 2 years ago, they went a bit more upmarket. I think up to 5 users is self service. So, your friend is likely going to be trying to either upsell the self signup accounts or be chasing bigger ones.

The elephant in the room for any CRM company is that you will always be going head to head with Salesforce. With opportunities against other CRM's, the SF reps apparently just lean on the fact that they're salesforce and drop prices considerably.

From what I can tell, to succeed in non salesforce CRM sales roles, your friend will need to be very good at value selling and will have to be very strong at discovery.

As for the product itself, I think it's a CRM that only works with G-suite. I don't know much more about it or what people like about it.

Thanks for the input. I believe you're right. The fact that they were built for G-suite seems to be a point of pride for them.

Helped my last company evaluate CRMs. Don't fully remember Copper, but seemed like it was made for smaller businesses. Didn't fit our needs at the time....

Could be a good for startup, but seemed much more limited than HubSpot, Pipedrive, SalesForce, Insightly, etc
