Using AI to hire sales people? Thoughts?

I recently stumbled upon the attached article.

Large tech companies have begun prioritizing AI to make hiring decisions.

How likely do you think this is to become common practice for hiring sales people?

Is this type of hiring best suited for less specialized roles?

Hiring salespeople has been one of the more difficult things I've ever had to do in my career.

I checked the "wave of the future" button but I think a lot of us are already doing this, but just not with "AI or data", a lot of us hire based on those "key intangibles" that we think we see in candidates all the time.  One thing I can agree with the article on is that past experience is a terrible metrics to base hiring decisions on.  Really cool technology though, something I'll add to me "take a demo to dive deeper" list.

I see where they are going with this and definitely think there could be some benefits but it's also introducing a whole range of biases. Asking the question "What did your parents do for work?" seems irrelevant to my abilities. I think I get where they are going with the assumptions but would that mean I am less qualified becuase my mom is a doctor?

I'm not ruling it out but would definitely want to learn more.

I think this could be cool to use in lieu of combing through resumes.

When asked how sure I am about a deal going through, I always tell my team 1%. Even if it’s at the finish line and everything is pointing the right way, until the contract is signed by all parties, it’s 1%.

What data do you need to hire a salesperson without speaking to them?

I’ve had some companies literally want a resume with qtr by qtr and corresponding quota %. Flipping the script on the dweebs in the subject of the article, I may or may not paste the job description verbatim and make the font white under my real resume.
