Using your sales powers for other jobs

Years ago, when I quit sales the 2nd time. I was travelling and decided to use my math powers for selfish reasons as I always do and got really into poker while in Europe. Anyone else do this? What other jobs can a salesman easily hit the ground running in? Besides the obvious entrepreneur answer.

Aside from a job, sales skills are incredibly useful in regular conversations with friends or on dates. Knowing how to make people feel heard and asking layering questions will always be valuable.

Life - negotiating everything from cars to houses and our boat. Plus life skills in general of being pleasant, outgoing, and making friends.

If your job involves engaging with other humans in some capacity, whether you like it or not, you’re in sales! If they don’t like you they won’t want to work with you. Like support or back office functions - you’re selling yourself so the sales teams will want to work with you and make it a pleasant environment.

Long story short - yeah you can take these skills anywhere.

The problem I see for AMs is the routine stuff will go away first. But the relationship could probably be handled mostly by something like Replika. It's not quite there yet, but close.
