You labeled this vent, so I'll give you two responses and you can pick which one you want to hear.

Letting you vent response:
Seriously, what the fuck?! Show a little bit of respect dude. You're working hard to try to make his (and his employees') lives easier and he doesn't have the time to look down at your email signature and get your name right? Unreal.

Helping you try to understand it response:
Ugh, that sucks but I'm sure it wasn't on purpose. Maybe he was talking to someone in the office named Jeff or autocorrect screwed him. He's busy and mistakes happen. Don't take it personally, try to brush it off and keep working the deal.

totally. thankful to have worked in food service thru adolescence and college - never expect anything and always brush it off.

I usually go with the autocorrect version. I never took it personally I typed my name several times to test it and I see autocorrect screwing it. It only is a problem if on the call he addresses me with the wrong name. Give the benefit of the doubt and don't worry about it.

Go with it, to this day I have customer that calls me Jason. I have yet to correct her. Partly because I hope to see the look on her face when she finds out (my signature reads my name).

2 years later I think it’s to far in to correct her

nah- I call that out. Honestly in my opinion, if we have a meeting set up and I am going to be giving my effort, a little effort on their part isnt that much to ask for. Be present in the moment, if not- be transparent and say I need to see my kids...do this another time.

Mine called me by my company's name for a solid hour before he realized it but um.. he closed with the shortest turn around time so maybe not all that bad.. he might not be a douche after all

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...

When a lead answers the phone for the first time in history only to scream at me to stop calling my first reaction is to laugh really loud. I don't even think about it.

How do you respond when a prospect says "not interested" right away before you've given them the pitch?
