Victory Laps

Went back in the office a few times over the last weeks. There is one guy in the office that does a victory lap after every time he closes a deal, even with very few people in the office. We have a leaderboard in the office that shows even time a deal closes and for how much. I guess I get the guy wants to be praised, but give me a break. We get it, you closed a sale. I don't want to feel obligated to congratulate people on every sale. It becomes meaningless. Any other annoying habits by people on the team?

Why haven't you set up hurdles along his path so you get some free entertainment?  Missed opportunity, my friend.

Buy an airhorn for when he comes by. Will stop that behavior quick.

Sounds like you should tell him to join a CrossFit gym. He’s fit right in.

If it really starts to grind on you, just see if you can beat him next time. When he literally gets up to start walking around get like 5-10 feet in front of him and say/yell "Kevin closed a deal again" to everyone he would have told.

Steal his thunder. Just like when a mother-in-law makes a facebook announcement about becoming a grandma before the couple officially announces it.

That's just it, everybody already knows.  It is like he is walking around to collect praise.  I am all for tooting your own horn, just not every deal.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
This is funny to me. I fully endorse what this guy is doing. You should join the club and do a war cry or something when you do.

Same thought hahah. Get a train whistle. Some weird top hat to wear all day when you make a sale. Have some fun.

So I kind of love it. Depending on what type of selling environment you have, it can be a slog. Lighten up the day. Is he doing this 10 times a day? Or is it once a week or twice a month etc? Go ahead and one up him. Blow a train whistle when you close. Enjoy it a bit.

I would start a betting pool with some colleagues to bet on who that person stops to talk to, do they yell out when they get a win, etc.  Add a bit of excitement to the day.

Annoying one for me is someone that has to let everyone know they are in the room by talking very loud or clearing their throat for all to hear.

I once sat next to a colleague in the office who would let me know every time she's about to call someone. Multiple times a day it would be "hey I'm about to call this guy". Yes, we are in sales, you should be calling & I don't need to know about it

This chick on my team was trimming her cuticles during a meeting last week and making a nice neat pile of dead skin on the table. I wanted to vomit. Even typing this makes me want to vomit. LIKE NO YOU DO NOT DO THAT IN AN OFFICE!

That sounds like the gross plane stories - things people do in public that they absolutely shouldn't.

Needing other validation for your success is such a joke. Also guarantee others hate this guy as well. It’ll be great when he’s not at the top of the leaderboard…
