Video for prospecting!

What does everyone think about using video for prospecting?

How do you use it?

What are some best practices?

Would love to start a conversation on this topic, even though I know it has probably been done plenty here. This is my first post, so I hoping hit on a hot topic.

I would only use it for top prospects. Also, buy a whiteboard and write their name on it and use it as the thumbnail with you holding it so they know it is customized for them.

I like them a lot, but I enjoy being in front of a camera. Might not be for everyone

I have seen and heard about the whiteboard.

It takes practice being in front of the camera. I have found more comfort in front of the camera after this past year on Zoom. How about you?

once you have presented to a board room of execs, you feel comfortable in front of anything haha. Zoom has definitely helped my colleagues feel more comfortable on camera though!

I tried using videos for prospecting in a couple of campaigns and it requires lots of practice if you're aiming towards personalization for the persona that you're targeting. If it's a generic video you can ease the hassle but it must include a lot of value and something that will catch your audience's attention. One thing to take into account is the channel that you want to use for this type of prospecting. Are you targeting a specific audience?

@uncorpse, yes, I agree. It is very tedious; I have got feedback that it needs to be personalized in total. I got it down where I was able to personalize, but I found many people would not open it up unless I followed up with a phone call.

I am targeting end-users the are looking at relocating their offices or looking at upgrading their offices.

I've been using video for some time (5-6 years) and I have to say it's changed the game for me and my teams. At first no one would open videos, like why trust a link / animated gif file you get from someone you don't know, right? But then we started figuring out how to make those more enticing and I can say now we get way more engagement from video messages than plain cold email.

Do you mind sharing how you made the subject line more enticing?

And thank you for the feedback! It is greatly appreciated!

Sure thing! Here's a few examples I've used:

For a Sales Manager I was selling to:
"Your forecast numbers"

A marketing manager:
"How are we tracking demand gen?"

And to one of my champions, a CXO:
"Can we do a quick QBR?"

They all clicked!

I used to use Vidyard when I was outreaching as an SDR. My problem is that I needed my videos to be perfect so I would spend too much time on one video, and the chance of that video getting opened is small.

I think it can be a great tool if you use it to provide value and only make them for high-target prospects. Cut out the cheese and make the video about them, not you. I saw one where the rep was on the prospect’s company website, showing exactly how the tool could add value.

Yep, I agree with you. This was my exact thought.
