Video messages for prospecting?

Personally I love doing this and seeing the analytics behind it i.e of how much of the video they watched, how many opens, etc. My only concern is that I don't like sending links to cold prospects. Thoughts

Do you use video messages for prospecting?

Seems like a bizarre concept to me! I’d be creeped out if one of my vendors sent me a video message.

I agree, it’s better if they see these pearly whites in person. No but all seriousness it’s pretty creepy to mr

Heya, just doing a value bomb dump of best practices I've got in my swipe file on this:

When shooting video: Be REAL

R - Relevance (Why you, why now, be relevant)

E - Emotionally engaging (Ask compelling questions)

A - Actionable (Add relevant CTA's)

L - Lively (Bring your personality)

Morgan J Ingrams formula for a 50 second pitch

10: Intro
30: Pitch
10: CTA

✅ Use a white board to write the prospect’s name (this technique has been around a while, but it’s NOT outdated...still works like a charm)

✅ Use an animated preview and embed into the email

✅ Put “video” or “personal video” in the subject line

✅ Keep the length under 30-40 seconds for first touch, cold emails

✅ Be yourself and be super conversational, use bullet points not scripts

✅ Intro: Hey [first name], this is [your name] with [your company]. Just wanted to put a face to the name…

✅ Don’t overthink production quality, keep it simple. Grab an HD webcam, a cheap ring light, and have a clear background.

✅ Mix up the evergreen vs. 1to1 personalized videos. Zoe usually uses two personalized videos and 1-2 evergreen videos.

✅ Include a video in half of the emails you send to prospects

I've heard good things about doing it but the issue that I've been having is how do I get a security buyer to click on a link from a stranger? 😂

Extremely low chance they click on unknown/weirdly formatted links you might send with Vidyard, for example. The key is LinkedIn. They can at least somewhat validate who you are, and if you send a video through the mobile app there's no link to click.

I’ve had a lot of success with LinkedIn videos. You have to already be connected to the prospect or the chances they’ll see it are slim, though.

I think its easier to ignore a video then a phone call, eventually everyone will pick up the phone. They have no incentive to watch the video

I think it depends on your market & wallet size of prospect. If you are working with old school/high level IT decision makers - they don't like gimmicks - & frankly get turned off by things that are too gimicky.I also don't think the ROI on doing the research & creating a video is worth it. If you are more mid-market - & have buyers that might be more on the creative/social side - go for it.

Like anything, it's all in the delivery. I've booked meetings from video prospecting. Links are sketchy and can send you to spam folder land no matter what, but I'd rather a VP of XYZ hear my voice and targeted pitch than them see a vanilla white paper from marketing if they do click.

The way around this is sending LinkedIn videos. I've also recorded < 2 min videos and sent in a Twitter DM (it works).

Lovvve video prospecting but most of it is on LinkedIn. I get about half of my meetings from video and some of the prospects message me instead.... video all the way until everyone figures it out 😂

Pro tip to increase your open rate with videos - buy a whiteboard and write “Hey Name!” and when you start the video hold it up.  it will appear in the video preview you share in the message body. They’ll know it’s tailored specifically to them and not spam!

you can also include the prospects name in the subject line (I.e., hey John I made this video for you!)

Spot on. A variation I’ve experimented with is starting the first 3 seconds filming the prospect’s LI profile so it shows in the thumbnail. Have gotten pretty good feedback on that and it forces you to step up the “micro personalization”

Another tip I’ve heard and tested is sending a text line reinforcing your soft ask or cta. Jury’s still out on that and philosophically I think it may impact the cleanliness and “intrigue” factor of just a video nothing else

Linkedin Inmail on phone lets you upload videos with no links. Deff get a higher response rate direct video message vs using vidyard. Response rate is oddly higher for landscape positioned video vs portrait. 45 seconds seems to be the sweet spot. and if no response, reply back after 3 days saying "Any feedback on my video"

Yes, I've just starting using BombBomb this week.  And am playing around with when to use it.

So far, I think the most traction I am getting is reengage contacts that I already know.

Yea it definitely is freaky. Privacy has never been more important and it seems like companies could care less about it

Great tactic for engagement, but will it hit their inbox? Probably going to spam often.

I've recently created a biweekly video call to show my beautiful face to ny accounts and man it is working opportunities just come up. Im serious I don't talk work for most just touching base with my customers and checking in and a 30 min call can extend to 15 with them sharing some insights discussing plans with you and what not.

I definitely recommend humaninzing interactions as much as possible and video is the best way forward.

It may depend on the industry but I've found our emails with video vs without (same content) had the same conversion rate, so not worth the added time and effort!

I just did a trial of bomb bomb today for video and analytics- it was pretty much freezing up my computer lol. So I think I would go for the video, but that product is not working for me. I normally use voice messaging from LinkedIn - 5 responses today from 12 messages sent

I've received these and think they are incredibly awkward. But, I've also tested sending them myself and found them unsuccessful (no views, no responses). Much easier to just pick up the phone and leave a message or connect on LI and say hey, I'm a real person!

It probably depends on the personas you’re selling to. With deliverability and efficiency in mind, I send only as a second or third touch to prospects who have opened previous emails. I’ve found just me speaking (vs demoing the product, or using their LinkedIn in the PiP view, for example) performs better. 30-60 sec all about THEM. I don’t even say my name or company. It’s basically like speaking vs writing a short, personalized email.

A few video technologies worth checking out -

1. VideoAsk - https://www.videoask.com - Prospects / Customers can also reply via video, audio, and text etc... Every interaction is recorded, transcribed, and organized for you.

2. Potion - https://www.sendpotion.com/ - Autogenerate personalized videos in bulk. Integrates w/50+ packages, including LinkedIn, Outreach, SFDC, Hubspot, Pardot, etc.

3. Vidon - https://www.getvidon.com/ - Create a deepfake video which looks and talks like you. Insert your recipients name into videos at scale.

4. Tolstoy - https://www.gotolstoy.com/ - Pre-record video chats with "next step" options for prospects to pick, leading them to the next video.

Waste of time. No one opens email so they won’t see your video. I did it for a few months. I’d spend an hour making 4 and no one even viewed.

I just can't with the video's for prospecting.  Videos have some great use cases in proposal follow up, etc - but its weird as hell when someone's video (who I don't know) just pops up in my email.

It helps if you can reference something visually in your video. Just a vid of me talking (as gorgeous as I am) I don't think does much, but showing something from their LinkedIn, 10k, a relevant article, or your product makes videos actually make sense to send
