VITO letter writing or nah

What is the groups take on VITO letter/email writing? It makes sense to multi-thread your deals, and gain access to other senior sponsors across the organization. But, a cold email from one VITO to another, in the company you are closing or targetting, can rock the boat, if not done well.

im sorry. I couldn't even make it through the first paragraph of that fucking article.

Too many BASHO and VITO mentions right out the gate for me to want to even keep reading.

This dude seems like the classic linked in sales guru who just takes basic strategy and gives it a new name and pawns it off as their own idea.

I am with you, not a fan! I think you can certainly invite those around you to support the deal, naturally, along the process. If someone up the chain, wants to send a note, and this happens a lot, largely because they think and want to be a hero, it usually ends with the customer feeling like shit.

I've never written a letter to anyone other than my pen pal in like 3rd grade that never responded. I think it was then when I realized that I should just talk to people and grace them with my presence rather than write the something on paper. Soooo, I'm curious what other people have to say about this one.

Q- along your deals, does your mgmt or senior leaders want to pop over the top? Ladder? Thread? whatever you want to call it... Also may be a function of the old way, selling multi-million dollar 'plumbing' software systems, that required influencers across and up and down the organization to bless the project.
