That seems like a ton of work for not so much return

It is, I am curious if newer generation is using this option. For me giving is a good karma, I do it with low expectation of return. In the past it was way more beneficial than now daysย

It's a good idea. Most people driven by philanthropic endeavors outside of work will tend to work with like-minded people they can trust and volunteering for a similar cause will bridge that gap way easier than not.

I think for it to work it would have to be organically. People volunteer to give back and better a community, not to be sold to.ย

If someone joined an org and happened to hit it off with someone who happened to have a need for what they're selling, that's fine. But taking a volunteer position just to further your own financial interests is not classy.

True, this is why I am asking. It's a way longer goal, but the prospects could appreciate the time investment and the effort into their favorite organizations. Same as offering charity donation as a thank you for a discovery call

One of my biggest pet peeves are businesses who support charities/non-profits they have as clients...it's considered a big no no in the insurance industry, where I work because it's a conflict of interest. Doesn't stop people from doing it though. If you believe in a cause, donate with no strings attached.

Before sales I was in insurance. My last company in that industry would PAY to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. The greasiness.

Why the greasiness? One of my previous employers matched my donation contributions (ร—2 in September) and paid to my charity organizations for my time if it was time donation. This is good for all, encouraging to donate time in our community and corporate tax benefit for them. Don't see anything wrong with this.ย
Once again though, the ask is about Volunteering in Profesional organizations, not traditional volunteering.

Gross. Insurance is so greasy...

One of the biggest homeless shelters in the city has theirย  insurance through a competitor and refuses to entertain us because their broker donates to them every year.ย

It's not my prospect but if it was I'd be very tempted to say "so if you moved insurers they wouldn't donate anymore? Is that the kind of person you want to do business with?"

Just sad, really.ย

2. In addition there is a different volontering option, I wasn't refering to volunteer in community organizations, I was asking about profecional associations ๐Ÿฅฐ

Fair enough. I think it's more acceptable to prospect within a professional association vs a charity.

Oh no, so sorry. Did you ever tried to volunteer in your targeted industry association?

I am trying, but it's very hard to stay motivated. Any suggestions on how to stay on course?

I totally understand. Just assume the worst, and use that as motivation.

AEโ€™s - hereโ€™s a very client-centred way to gather information about โ€˜WHENโ€™ a decision needs to be made. Doing it this way will help you shorten sales cycles and build trust. Keep in mind - not every question I ask in this example is a perfect fit for every buyer, but should give you a good place

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...
