What it sounded like is that they are so heavily inbound that they are going to have people paid at a lower level 60-70K with a lower total comp as closers.

Quite honestly they are good people and they made a decision and executed against it. The story is also more in my favor for only being 45 days in as opposed to 6 months in then laid off. Truly wish them the best and that it doesn't happen to anyone else

I've had that exact situation happen and it's gutting. Similar situation too. Company was going to focus on PLG and was stopping all outbound until they became more cash positive.

that is also the weirdest part they just raised a round and the hiring was enabled because of it. IDK it's all confusing to be honest with more questions than answers

2 things I would do here if I were you depending on how you can see what happened from your own perspective.
One: Try to find a different role with the same base and commission structure at the same company in case you think that decision was made out of their hands like for that budget issues sh** or something else you know it's true!
And I guess in this case they should welcome you again into a different role and embrace your time, effort and the experience you gained!
Two: Only if you only think that it wasn't an actual Title Cancelation and have something behind it which is obviously laying you off (You Personally or your full group) for some reason you have nothing to do about or have no idea about it even and have some real solid insights about that behavior.
You don't have only to leave in this case without a Goddamn big buzz for that situation with everyone you know that shares the same title, sharing detailed posts _especially on platforms that allow sharing your company's name_ about how unfairly you were treated so that whoever newbies that may think of joining that company or whenever they may think of re-adding that title again they should know how much of Job Loss Jeopardy is waiting for em only if they even think of it!!
