Waiting on Hold

I usually have a 1 minute max for waiting on hold before I hang up when it's waiting for an operator or customer support to try and transfer me over to the prospect.

If you do get transferred over and are waiting on hold for a prospect, how long do you wait before you give up and move on?

Would love to hear what everyone else does.

Honestly, I think it depends on how hot the lead could potentially be. I have waited on hold for 5-8 mins before and have gotten some of my biggest clients because of it.

I would agree it depends on the quality of the lead. If it is a true cold call, I'll wait for max 60 seconds. If it is a hot lead or a warm intro, I'll wait however long it takes.

I wait around two minutes for a cold call. I'll wait longer if it's a warm intro/follow up, up to five min or so. After that I'll hang up and try again another day...I have better things to do than listen to elevator music for ten minutes.

I thought BDRs loved being on hold? Make the "talk time" metric look better!
