Ways to make a resume POP? I'll start

Let's get a thread going of ways you've made your resume stand out a little bit (other than just lying).

At a previous company, I mentioned that I was the highest performing rep in my hiring class, and second-ranked on my team of 12. Hopefully gives interviewers some perspective since quota attainment or unattainment can just be an isolated number.

What are creative ways you show your contributions or accomplishments?

P.S. - Would you list a low quota attainment, like 50%?

no, I would not list low quota attainment. That's saying "I got a 2.8gpa but decided to apply to Harvard"

Yeah I think you either just list a YTD quota that makes you look good (maybe you had one bad quarter but the rest of the year was good), or you just leave it off.

Better yet, any shout out/award you receive for rookie of the quarter for the team or region I would mention that also

Even if you're coming off of a terrible stint, there are a lot of ways to frame it as a positive experience to put on your resume.

Try to find the metrics that best highlight your accomplishments, while being HONEST. If you had low attainment, focus on your outreach metrics, number of conversations, opportunities generated, relationships established (if you're interviewing in the same industry).

Like your way as I'm same as you always prefer to go generally speaking and not specifying numbers unless they asked particularly about the attainment in a sentence!

I always skip out on a past job where I had terrible Quota achievement. So did everybody else, but recruiters/hirers don't particularly care. When you bring that up, it sounds like you are making excuses.

I will list strong quarters, %, then directly address the weaker ones if they ask.

Playing with words would help. You might want to store that story for your interview (only if needed)

Aesthetics stand out. Itโ€™s 2023, donโ€™t stick to the plane text resume.

What do you suggest here? I always struggle with the โ€œlookโ€ more than the content.

Just make it easy to read. Itโ€™s such a simple thing but many people blow it. No one is gonna read your novel length resume. Keep it short and concise.

Metrics and how you performed on the job are crucial to standing out from others.

In addition to some suggestions already listed.... try to make it visually stand out as well with nice organization. Example here (this was done using MS Word. And I just noticed this wasn't up to date, so make sure your stuff is up to date too). I've had good comments when I was called in for an interview by companies about my resumes. Choose a background related to your industry. (this example was the Disney Spaceship Earth ride if going for Disney)

One thing that just bugs me are these overloaded resumes where they are like two or three pages or they have multiple backsides. I am all for exposing your greatness on paper however do it in a lowkey way. You don't need to write paragraphs and all this extra crap on there when you can keep it short and simple. That also helps bring in more interest and curiosity from others to your resume.

Great morning I hope all is well, just was curious on how I could get back to watching the videos and answering the questions. Very new to tech sales, but not new to sales, Iโ€™ve been in sales for 5 years. Any recommendations on how I can highlight that to stand out to employers?
