We need more?

How do you deal with a manager that says:

'We can't physically work with nor put Y amount of people on trial due to having a small workforce but also the servers...but, we need to get more in.

Why do I need to get more in if we can't handle it? I have questioned it but the response is more in. It doesn't harm me in commission per meeting but overall it effects the company (small start-up).

Has anyone else had scenarios where you keep bringing companies in and the boss forgets about them and what work you've done to then just say more more more?

If I'm reading this correctly, your company is struggling with trial capacity becuase you have a small team. However, your boss needs to drive more revenue, which means more sales.

Can you skip trials, therefore circumventing the workforce problem?

Sounds like a leader looking to grow their business but isn't sure what to do next...and isn't looking at easy solutions like not offering trials to every potential client.

It's unreal to how correct you are.ย

It usually goes, I get them in - my manager talks to them - trial starts - my colleague does lots of work setting them up...and then normally my boss just forgets about them to focus on the big deals and we cant go back them.ย

I know being in a start-up is 'different' but when you are being told to get more in and all the big ones have been and gone it becomes very frustrating!

I actually saw a post on here the other day about 'what you've learned from the War Room' and the majority of responses were how you aren't alone in what you think and going through, you've just understood the problem in one comment. Thanks for that!ย

To comment on your last paragraph - spot on. One big thing Iโ€™ve learned is that no matter how tough or shitty some things are at my job, everyone else is going through similar stuff.

Has made me realize to not jump to another ship as that one is likely having issues too.ย

& i can only thank the WR for that knowledge.ย

In that scenario I'd power through, Give my 100%, give feedback about what's working and what's not and continue to AB test

Yeah, true, we do AB test (well I do) but it's still annoying how the boss keeps going on...but ah well!ย

Itโ€™s the worst scenario to be in and tough to get out due to the size of your org. Only hope is to lead the prospect towards a sale rather than prolonged trial. Or - with your current trials, bring them to a closing phase to free up trial slots for new prospects coming in.

I find I do the hard work and leave notes for my boss, he doesn't read them, has a meeting in which he just says the same things I do and the only difference between his and my conversation is that he can send over paperwork, I almost feel like i do the tough bit and he doesn't realise it and takes the credit?

Always happens that way...ย

Only thing you can do is what you are doing. If itโ€™s your bosses job to get them through the trial and close, itโ€™s on him to progress clients through that phase so you can keep getting new ones in!ย

Are you not closing deals because you don't have faith in your management team to execute?
