I went to Hawaii for 1.5 weeks with my significant other and we had the best time. The only thing was, I work for a start up and those things are frowned upon. Mind you, I had to change this trip 2-3 times because of various reasons (Q4, death in the family, etc.) So I said this time, I am taking my god damn vacation. I don't care if I have only been at the company for 4 months.
Well, when I came back I felt like I was in the dog house. I felt the grim reaper creeping in as if I was going to get fired.
I didn't get fired. Instead, a guy that started 2 months before me did.
The difference? I had defendable pipe that I worked my ass off for, and he didn't.
Moral of the story. Take your vacation, but also don't join a company that has a quick trigger finger.
