What are Good Commission Investments?

I'd love to get an idea as to what types of investment people are putting their commission and/or base salary earns towards.

Obviously there are equities, bonds and crypto but specifically what are you buying?

On top that, are their less common investments you've found that provide you with a great return?

Priority #1 is to minimize your tax exposure.

- Max out 401k
- Max out HSA (if participating)

Priority #2 is spot on from @poweredbycaffeine
Go for short term investments that can yield you 5% or more return. Youโ€™ll be out pacing inflation and can access the money quickly if shit starts going sideways.

#3 is long term investments. Think real estate. If you can buy a property and be cash flow break even or positive pull the trigger.

Feel like youโ€™re looking for someone to justify your Crypto addiction. Better strategy might be to binge on a scratcher tickets.

I donโ€™t own crypto. Iโ€™m thinking more along the lines of angel investing, silent partner backing or low interest loans to local businesses.

Thatโ€™s always more riskier, no?
It depends on your risk appetite!

Max out my 401k, then the rest goes into short term investments like bonds.

Are you ever looking at alternative investments? Like into a start up or a silent partner situation?

ETFs

Wouldnโ€™t dare individual stocks. I donโ€™t the knowledge and no doubt will end up losing all my monies :(((

ETFs have served me well up to now

For Canada, TFSA & RRSP maxing. Index funds for safe long term growth.
If you have a larger pot of liquidity, real estate.

I stack commission until theres enough sitting in my chequing account to buy another property but if you want passive investments etfs are unbeaten long term unless you have some niche area of expertise you can invest in
