Iโ€™ll give you 1 (itโ€™s not only one but I think itโ€™s most impprtant) Start ups need self starters. People that are ambitious. If theyโ€™re waiting for someone to manage their success, or build that resource, or reach out to that person from another department to try and get something done - it wonโ€™t happen. Iโ€™ve been in startup mode for 5 years now and I always notice the people that come from larger companies kind have this learned helplessness about them as if they keep waiting for certain things. Whether itโ€™s product knowledge or whatโ€™s happening in the industry - theyโ€™re going to have to want to go get it as it wonโ€™t be spoon fed.ย

People from larger companies also have fear of making decisions because they weren't allowed to. I think it can be coached.ย 

But yes the drive is important too.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
