What are your opinions on WFH?

Here's mine. I think you should be given the freedom to choose. Obviously, it's up to the company and not you, but for those with families, hobbies that keep them grounded, and those who have moved to another state, is it worth it to move back to the city where your office is?

Some companies force you to come in for the sake of building "Office Culture" adding to extra commuting costs and leaving you with 2-3 hours less for your day to pursue other hobbies and spend time with family. I'd prefer WFH, but a day or two in the office is cool, just not full-time.

I also think it's fairly anti-progressive to not have some form of WFH for remote positions that you could hire people from states that can't move to hubs like Austin, SF, NY, etc

What are your thoughts?

Would you quit your job if you were forced back to the office?

I absolutely would quit if they forced me back full-time. There are a million open sales jobs right now and not enough people to fill them. Pretty sure I could go fully remote and get a raise

I interviewed for a company and told them I wasn't interested because they were fully in office. The next day, they told me they'd be willing to waive that. Companies don't have the leverage here, you do.Β

I agree with going into the office occasionally and if it’s beneficial to learn and while you are starting to sponge from the other people that are successful at the company, however if you are a contributor and are hitting your goals then I don’t see a problem with WFH or a hybrid option.Β

Quitting because your employer tells you to do something that was perfectly normal before last year is the most millennial thing I may have ever heard of.Β  I'd really hope that if you quit your job, it's for a lot of other reasons other than that.Β  If that's part of the equation, sure I get it.Β  But literally quitting solely because your employer tells you they want you to work from a designated workplace that they've invested resources into to support their workforce is frankly more than a little immature.Β  I know I'm in the minority on this opinion, I'm just a little sick of this "quit if I don't get my way" mentality.Β Β

I agree 100%

A lot of people I know only like working from home because they prefer to dress like a slob 24/7 or never want to interact with anyone unless they're getting paid for it...also an annoying millennial mentality and I'm a millennial myself.

Yep, I'm a millennial too, and it annoys me that many of my peers operate this way.

I think you should be in an office just like how it was over a year ago.Β

I've got to say, I think we disagree on almost everything paddy. Why do you think we should be in an office?

Why do u feel entitled to work from home permanently because of one anomalous pandemic when working from an office was a standard for the last 100 years?

I would 100% quit my role if I was mandated to come in a certain number of days a week, but it won't happen. My manager told me I can work on the moon for all they care.Β

I don't mind being in the office, it's just that our hybrid model has literally proven to be more effective than full time wfh/full time in office. If my job can be done remote and I'm hitting #'s, you shouldn't care where I'm at.Β
