What Brokerage/Application do you use for Stocks?

Know there's likely been a thread about this already, however curious to hear what brokerage's and applications people are using for trading Stocks/Crypto.

Personally, have my stocks split up across a couple of different brokerages and one application for Crypto, so open to ideas on consolidating all of that as well.

Betterment, and I love me some ETFs. I have neither the patience nor the risk appetite, to trade on individuals.

I've heard of Betterment, how is the interface with them? I try to do the long term ETFs too, but TD's interface is horrible compared to other brokers.

It's so smooth! I have my IRA and personal investing done through them. Can't recommend their app enough.

Betterment looks like a solid option, going to at a bare minimum start using that for a Roth account. Thanks all for sharing this!

My accountant SO says don't do a ROTH! When you retire, your income levels will be much lower because (duh) you're retired so pay the tax later on distributions!

Someone prove me wrong or confirm - as noted above, I'm no expert.

I have accounts at Betterment, Vanguard, TD, etrade, and IBKR.  Bettermemt stands above the rest in terms of interface.  It's by far the sleakest and user friendly of the bunch.

There are a lot of variables and no one answer will fit for all.  There are a few things to consider like where you'll be living in retirement.  States have different taxes.

Typically, for most young people, it's in their best interest to do a Roth because they're usually at the lower tax rate (entry level jobs, lower salary).  This way they'd get taxed less than if they were to do it after promotions and raises (more taxes).

SO is right to consider what retirement level income looks like.  It depends on what sort of financial lifestyle you'd like to live during retirement.  Most try to achieve a similar lifestyle like they were working and this would be dependent on your tax bracket. If possible, I'm assuming most would not like to go back to living like a poor college student during retirement years, might have grandchildren, and health conditions to pay for.

Another factor to consider is rising tax rates in the future.  If taxes rise in the future, then putting money towards a roth now might save you in the long run.

TLDR: No cookie cutter answer - depends on your income, retirement plans, and financial health.

If you’re making few enough dollars to invest in a Roth (Assuming it’s not employer sponsored) your tax will probably be comparable. Also nobody know what tax rates will be in 30+ years. Also, your money grows tax free leaving more to compound over time which will make you more than you’ll ever pay in taxes.

I've heard good things about Schwab and that's likely the platform I'm going to consolidate everything into someday soon.

I have no idea what I'm doing so I just stick with my original TD account. It hasn't let me down so far - but know I could be doing a lot better if I had more knowledge. Too busy with my job to have the time to dive deeper.

FWIW my industry requires constant learning - laws are changing *literally* every day and I need to know them all.

For day trading, Fidelity. Company matched 401K is handled through Empowered. I'm quite pleased with Empowered and would recommend them to anyone

All depends on what you're doing and what the goals are. If you daytrade and want something "free" TD Ameritrade's ThinkorSwim platform is good enough. The basic website sucks though, so you need to use Thinkorswim.

TC2000 and TradingView are great for free/low-cost charts.

If you swing trade or hold overnight then it comes down to broker fees since the application/platform doesn't really matter.

Crypto- Is normally separate. Binance is one but many others.

If you invest long term... Fidelity, Schwab (which merged with TD Ameritrade) are great. Maybe you want to be hands off then you need to talk about robo-advisors like Betterment.

I'm a bit more hands off so Betterment may be an option for me here soon, also have some money in TD and use Stash currently as well. Thanks for the info on all this.

Right now I use WeBull. Switched over  to them from Robinhood after the  Gamestop event. Takes a while to get the funds secured in their system but I havent had any issues.

My "fuck around" money is in TD right now.
The website is ass, but ThinkorSwim app is pretty good.

Need to transfer my roth and 401k from previous roles and might open a Fidelity account for one of those to have a bit more control. Then vanguard a Roth IRA.

Sorry for the missed context, anyone using Robinhood should get out unless they use it for crypto, which even then I’d change to coin base

Ahh makes sense, I've been using Coinbase for Crypto and it's solid and easy to use (from what I've done so far), however just need to educate myself more on the Crypto space as a whole!
