What could your company be doing to make you more successful?

Should they:

  • Improve the compensation structure?
  • Have better sales tools/CRM?
  • Hire better management?
  • Improve the culture?
  • Something else?

>Better account service

>An actual marketing department (marketing accounts to carriers, not marketing with drum circles and kombucha)

>A leadership team with real solutions to help us close deals and long term strategies

>Not have offices compete against each other for clients (aka, you win an account, it takes revenue away from someone else's office to pay for all of the above)

>Stop spending ridiculous amounts of money on in house software that doesn't work

>Incentivize senior sales people to mentor new hires

>Change the commission split for equal amounts on new business and recurring.

Yes I have no idea how they’re not sinking TBH and they’re a multibillion dollar firm

like, they got rid of our marketing department and just have us going through wholesalers.

HELLO THAT MEANS I GET 5% LESS COMMISH EVERY DEAL

Literally terrible when this isn’t figured out. You’ve won the deal - why can’t you keep them happy?

Take the incentivization of senior sales people on step further, hire people who want to work with others to succeed and bring others up.

Not everyone is going to be an all star but we can help them reach there max potential right?!

I once worked at a place that gave everyone X amount of dollars (I think maybe like 2K or something) for external quarterly training/industry conferences that were super helpful. It was always really nice to unplug from selling for a day or two and connect with peers in different industries or verticals.

This would be incredible. I don't think people understand the value and ideas that can come from connecting with people outside of your industry.

I do way too much admin.
I should never have to go into zoominfo or create a quote or find goodfit companies to call or build lists.

I think that reps should be aligned to outsourced VA's. 1 VA for 3 to 5 reps

Use the software we sell to solve the same problems at our company we tell our customers they solve.
Almost all of the experts who actually ran our software to help us be successful have used that to leave the company and now they haven't backfilled them with equally qualified people so our customers are able to solve the problems we refuse to

Plz more sales ops updates and marketing events. Maybe more team happy hours?? Also maybe for team meetings, do something crazy like have everyone pick their favorite movie as their zoom background

Not increase quota every year? lol

They could empower our Channel organization more by devoting REAL budget dollars to invest in them. Sponsoring events, volunteering as speakers/panelists and showing we are actually investing in them; to in turn have them invest in us.

Aside from that, having more transparent communication would be fantastic. Cus my current company kinda sucks at that.

Support for existing customers and implementation for new sales. Both are a total disaster at my company. I’m having to drive implementation for everything I sell, always wish it was more of a clean handoff and I can go back to active selling.

Ah, that sucks. I'm grateful that we have a well built implementation team. Once the contract is signed and they're handed off I don't have to talk to the prospect ever again.

God I need that. Is your implementation team US based? Ours is in Serbia and I don’t think they understand our urgency sometimes.

I've seen this everywhere I've been. The biggest thing almost every company is lacking is focusing on the strengths of their employees and using that to help make them more successful. Normally if they offer things it's very generic and helps the company (very slightly) as a whole vs helping the individuals a TON.

Clear communications/consistency on performance expectations and what behaviors they really want. Used to work in an org with tons of sly selling behavior that was lowkey encouraged by individual managers but senior admin would sing a different tune.

Practice what we preach.

My company: *research notes and insights on CRMs/their value/a tool that helps you pick the best one out for your org*

Also my company: Does not have CRM for employees

Doing everything sales
Wasting less time on deals that don't close, and more time on real deals.

I spend about 80% of my time on deals that never close. I wish my company would actually use all the data they ask me to type into the CRM to tell me when to drop a deal (or spend less energy in a deal) that is not likely to close.

I understand that quota is meant to be difficult to attain, but there should be something done to allow underperformers to bounce back from a bad month/quarter.

Also - Cutting down on unneeded miscellaneous meetings might help sales teams actually make enough calls throughout the day.
