What do you do when someone preaches to the world they are a good cold caller but you know they are lying?

"Hey man! My BDR is looking to shadow a few reps to improve cold calling so he's going to put a call blitz on your calendar to learn from you. Looking forward to seeing what he learns from the GOAT!"

That should cool off the boasting.

Make my own calls, source my own pipeline, and watch them slowly struggle and either learn eventually or fail. Direct confrontation will not solve anything (unless you are the individual's manager, in which case I would try to take a constructive approach).

I don't let it bug me. They're probably just compensating for something. If they wanna claim they're great, let them claim it. I have my own shit to worry about.

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. It's so important to focus on your own success in sales, especially to maintain sanity.
However, being competitive makes it hard not to pay attention to others, especially if they say they're having success, I want to know how so I can learn.

That's very true, hard not to want to know what other successful reps are doing, and that's a good thing. But sucks if we are learning the wrong things

A solopreneur...HAHAHA

Actually the term is a curator.

The best ones are the operators - those who take the info and put it into practice.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Why does this matter? I can't imagine this impacts you on a day-to-day basis.

It depends - why does it matter (if this person is lying)?

Ask them to call a venue and negotiate a better deal for a large group.

Does anyone ever overprep for a cold call?

When a lead answers the phone for the first time in history only to scream at me to stop calling my first reaction is to laugh really loud. I don't even think about it.
