What do you say if you get an offer and the recruiter says it’s non-negotiable? (Plus job hopping advice)

Recruiter told me at the beginning of the interview process that the base is non negotiable. I just got the offer that has a base that is about 10K more than mine however, I would like a 5-10K increase on the offer that was given. This is quite the leap for me to take this job seeing as I’ve only been in this current role less than a year. I have a lot of reasons for leaving with the main one being convenience and being able to live wherever I want in the country because the position is 100% remote. That mixed with I can’t stand selling to my current customer base anymore. Also outside sales is overrated. Thanks for reading my rambling.

the recruiter is not the one hiring you is he/she? everything is negotiable to some extent..... get the job and ask for a signing bonus or higher commision at the end of the day 5-10k after taxes isnt all that much

Recruiters are full of shit. You have all the leverage now.

My buddy was a senior recruiter at Facebook. Told me the power move is once you get the offer....Go silent for 24 hours. They'll be freaking out, calling you, emailing you, asking if there's anything else they can do. Then get back to them "Oh sorry! Been busy interviewing" and ask for more.

EVERYTHING is negotiable. Know your value...present your counter offer. If you don't get it, either move on or if you can live with their first offer, go for it. It's not gonna hurt you to try.

You can always try. Oftentimes they won't budge, but you'll never know if you don't ask

Everything is negotiable.  Everything.  Just remember, at the end of the day, every one is on straight commission.  You are paid for results.  How that compensation plan works out is a negotiation.  Betting on yourself means lower base and higher % commission. A base is simply a commission paid over 12 months...

That’s trash and you know it.
A real bet is getting all the cash you can carry.

a lower base+ higher commission might just get you to the same W2 as your friends.

leaving money on the table is doing the company a favor. And unless you own the company, makes no sense.

Hello... I work in recruiting. The trick to this is to justify why you need that money with real reasons that can't be refuted and do so eloquently. Worst case is that they say no but you don't want to go in so that the client rescinds the offer.

For example, how much PTO, what are health care costs out of pocket? What is the 401k match/profit sharing? I bet theres a difference and use those inadequacies to get you more money. Make it make sense to the employer.

also, there's a good chance your recruiter doesn't make money unless you accept and start the job. So treat them as a partner. They are at the mercy of the client and the candidate. don't view it as you vs. them. They want you to get the job.

Never hurts to ask! Any good sales leader will respect the confidence and negotiating. Call the direct hiring manager you interviewed with and ask and tell the recruiter they’re welcome when you make them more money. The market is crazy right now - I asked for an insane number thinking I would get half and the company didn’t blink and gave me 100% of what I asked. Again, you’re welcome recruiter for making more bc I did it myself.

That’s called aggressive negotiating from the outset. Done from what is perceived as a position of power.

I once got told this crap before. Next thing you know management is telling me the offer is non negotiable, we can’t do more……and it was ten+ thousand higher than what they stated. I had never asked for more either.
