What do you think about “no discounts” policy?

My friend is running an online school and his pricing philosophy is “never provide them with any discounts” - he says in his opinion it gives higher income in longer term. What do you guys think about this philosophy?

Love the “no discounts” philosophy

I marked no, but I think it depends. for a software priced on a per user basis, there need to be volume discounts or other concessions.  to offer up when dealing with a fast-growing company or larger enterprise... Especially when larger enterprises push you to procurement who are specifically measured on savings.w

I marked Yes, because as a general rule there should be no need to discount if the product/service you sell actually solves a tangible problem for your client. That said, I'm open to negotiation and am often times willing to trade a minor concession in onboarding costs for a longer-term contract or upselling to multiple services.

Always should be able to have levers to pull to be able to make the deal happen.  Adding more usage or another product or extending the contract should be all things to be able to consider but not being able to discount to meet a buyers need is ridiculous

You should have the mentality to sell an item on Value and not have to discount... but I hate when companies don't give you a chance. Trade is important. Being able to discount in return for more commitment to the deal is big.

Should be a fine line between to discounts and a discount because of a bidding situation.

I marked no, but like the rest of the people here it's with an asterik. We don't discount, but would be willing to if we could get a case study, webinar, logo rights, etc. Something worth it to justify the discount. I hate the model of marking up 50 percent just so you can get back to the number you always wanted. It's a pain in the ass for the customer and the sales rep IMHO.
