I don't think the Covid part matters. If you're taking 2 weeks off to recover from illness regardless of the illness then you shouldn't be shocked about lack of quota relief. That being said, they're dickheads for not having some empathy but whatev man that's how sales rolls sometimes.

Was it company mandated or company sponsored? There is a difference in my opinion. It sucks for sure either way but if it was just a sponsored event Im not surprised you didn't get relief. Most people don't get it relief for any sort of PTO.

If it was mandated then that's a different story and you should absolutely be given relief.ย

It was highly encouraged that we go to this team event. Someone who came to the event found out that they had covid the next day. By the weekend I felt bad and tested positive for covid. Is what it is. I don't expect any better from a company! If your company has heart, let me know and I'll apply. I'm the #1 SDR here.ย

It really depends on how it hits. Everyone has a different experience. While thatโ€™s likely the case itโ€™s not for all. I think the main piece here, and the one to me it appears youโ€™re still ignoring, is that this happened due to the negligence of the company and its wilful endangerment of its staff. Now everyone should have been vaxxed, but there are a few legitimate reasons why some canโ€™t be. If thereโ€™s no mandatory vaccine policy there should be no mandatory events.

Others were using the word mandated and I got mixed up a bit. Per OP, it was ' highly encouraged ' - but in my experience that can be just as good as mandatory, but perhaps reduced liability in this case as it wasn't *truly* mandatory.

I think we're assuming the mandatory aspect of it. Eitherway i don't see how the company is accountable for work that wasn't done and compensates in commission. If they paid the hrs missed, that's good enough for me, everything else is a plus

@NoSuperheroย I get that position, but quota relief is still possible, especially at an event that it seems everyone was 'encouraged' to attend. It's not paying for work not done if they cut the quota in half for the month - it's simply adjusting the goalposts based on the realities of the situation.

It doesn't surprise me. Most companies don't provide quota relief for illness or any other short term leave. Shit half of them provide limited or conditional or no quota relief for maternity leave.

Well not sure how the "paid leave" was calculated (i.e. they took it from your accrued normal sick PTO), but my organization added time to everyone for COVID Sick PTO, which is separate from your normal time.ย  In terms of quota relief, seems like most companies wouldn't offer that.ย

I had tested negative recently and was feeling great. I had been out of the country and was about to get the vaccine the weekend before but was nervous about feeling bad. It was the last week of the month and in addition to this event I had a quota to hit. I felt that I couldn't afford to feel bad that week from a vax.ย
