What do you title your intro meeting invites?

What's your go-to for meeting titles? And why!? Let's share some strategies.

Strictly business or Whitty or Loose with no structure?

I've seen everything from basic...
{your company} / {their company}: Intro

...to the creative...
How {your company} can save $51M on X in 2021

Beyond introductions, it'd be nice to get your opinion regarding demo meetings, pre-deal-close meetings, etc, too!

Thanks! 🕵🏽

Have you ever had a prospect call you out on the meeting title?

This is something you shouldn't have to overthink. Intro meeting? "Introductory Call w/ paddy and fuckface prospect" -- short and sweet. What more needs to be said?

That's my template title, sometimes I ALMOST hit send and then realize I didn't replace "fuckface" so it gets dangerous.

Lol. Peep my comment below for an idea of how to get tactical. Trying to examine word usage and optimize.

Great call, keep it simple. I've had success adding a short agenda in the body of the invite to prep them a bit and remind them why they agreed to the call in the first place.

I've had success with "meeting" in the title.

If I do put both companies I always list them first. Some people are petty like that.

{You} / {Prospect}: Best practices to remove cybersecurity bottlenecks

REASONING:

I lean on tactics that help my company stay top-of-mind and that help my invite stand out on their packed calendars.

1 - Reference your company name or your first name towards the beginning of the title.

★ Why first name? → It reminds them you're a human and they feel worse about ghosting you—so more likely to at least reschedule... I think lol

2 - Follow that with their first name.

★ Why not their company? → They already know their company name, so it's a waste of space to include it. Likely makes you blend in with other vendor invites too (so you're automatically "salesy").

3 - Add a reminder describing how you originally met or why they booked the call (like my sample at the top).

Final thoughts:

→ Make your prospects proud to have your invite on their calendar

→ Aim to pique interest of their team who will likely see your invite in passing

→ Remind them why they were excited to book with you

★ Bonus points for tasteful emoji usage in the first character of the line (otherwise it may get cut off)

Just avoid any internal jargon. Personally I'm a fan of the meeting title to reflect the value to the prospect rather than the value to myself. I avoid plopping the word "demo" in the title because it's more reflective of me crossing a step off of a list. I'll substitute it with something like "walkthrough". Small changes that work more on a subconscious level for your prospect.

Do I think it is going to hurt my chances of a successful demo call if I label it a demo call? Nope. I do think it might give me a small boost by labeling it differently though.

If it does nothing at all, no big deal. If it does actually help, awesome. I doubt it will ever hurt to take this stuff into consideration though.

Company / company - reason for meeting (time in local time zone / time in local time zone) I work with a lot of companies across the US, and in the UK/EU and a shocking amount in Australia. I find including the times for both parties, in the same order as I list the companies, helps everyone stay organized and punctual c

Company / your company - progress? That or My company - what’s the next steps? Second works well after the first. I also have found saying ‘Your company - yeah, if you don’t want to read it, it’s fine’ Being overly honest works wonders

Format for all meetings

Title

- 1on1 - Name1<>Name2
- group - Company1<>Company2

In the notes

Purpose > line on what's the point. Eg. To gain an deeper understanding of your business operations

Plan > brief run through of the agenda. Eg. Ill will kick the meeting off with a short recap of where we are in the evaluation. My sales engineer has a series of questions for your team. We can end by opening up to a short what else discussion

Outcome > what the goal of a successful meeting is for both parties. Eg. Be able to coordinate the solution meeting based on the information collected

Its a format that works great internally and externally. And start all meetings by getting agreement on these 3

My Company | Their Company -Introductions

I list me first if I think they're dedicated enough to the initiative that they'll attend no matter what, I list them first if I want it to look more ambiguous at a glance so they're not tempted to push last minute if a minor inconvenience pops up and they think "I don't know this company anyway"

"My Company (Purpose) / Prospect Company"

I want the prospect to know who the meeting is with and purpose at a quick calendar glance. Examples:
"War Room Intro Call / Meech"
"War Room Demo / FunCoupons"
"War Room Plan for Partnership / Paddy"

I usually go " 'my name' & 'prospect name' | 'my company' intro call (or demo/pricing discussion, etc.)"

Ex: Jake & Jill | Company X intro call

(No that's not my real name)

My Company | Their Company

Body of invite:
summarize call details and purpose of meeting

I debate with folks on if it should be their company name or my company name first. Typically in a quick view of the calendar you only see the first word or so of the meeting, so it's more helpful for them to see our company name so they know the purpose of the meeting.

This post is way in the weeds, don't overthink it: Meeting with PezDog/Company Name.  I don't even put their name in it, and I certainly don't want to put anything ridiculous sounding in there like a fucking value prop, that shit is weeaaaaaak

*My Company Name* + *Their Company Name* Discussion is what I usually go with. Makes sure they know the company they're meeting with while not claiming it's anything 'sales' or 'cold prospecting' related.

"Company name" demo or meeting, I'm boring. I'm not a fan of getting too cute or witty
